Meditation is doing nothing.

Simply 'being', but without the concept/s of 'being'.
'Not-being', would come closer.

Letting go of thoughts, and just 'not-being'.

The pros and cons of everything are subjective, so decide for yourself, or don't.

'It' feels indescribable. Describing something requires concepts and words, whereas anything said can't really come close at all.
You feel rooted, at home, comfortable, relaxed. None of those words can explain without your understanding first.

It is not difficult to meditate. Only through effort does it become 'difficult'.
At any time, during anything and anywhere, you can meditate. You don't need to sit in an asana with your eyes shut.
Take the 'meaning' as simplistically as possible. Meditation is not about anything, it just is. If you 'just are' you are in meditation.

One last thing; awareness is key, and focus is not awareness.

You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

one tool to help you figure out meditation is brainwave entrainment. I recommend www.transparentcorp.com

Double speak aside, meditation does give benefits in concentration and the ability to think objectively about your place in life. People who meditate are less likely to despair when something bad happens to them.

Meditation actually alters brainwave patterns and has a physical effect on the body. It can relieve stress and sharpen the 'senses' (i don't necessarily mean the five physical senses here). It can support happiness and general well-being.

I've never achieved a deep meditative state, and i've never really cared to, but i do meditate a couple of times a week for around 10-20 minutes each time. Sometimes it just doesn't feel right and i can't let go and relax. Other times i end up continuing for 30 minutes plus. When it does feel right it's just a feeling of being relaxed really. Generally i will feel any positive emotional effects of the meditation shortly after i'm done.

As i said though, i've never gone very deep into meditation. I've never achieved a trance state and i've never had any "Aha!" moments. Simply clearing my mind from clutter has allowed me some useful insight into my life, but nothing that's made me go "oh my god! of course!" So maybe somebody else can fill you in on those deeper realms of the mind.

It's definitely a useful tool though, and i heartily recommend it, even if it's just 20 minutes a day or a couple of times a week, like me.

I have a question for people who sit in the lotus(or half) position when meditating. Do you always put the same leg on top, or do you alternate? I know it doesn't matter much, just curious. Personally I sit with my left leg on top about 70% of the time because it is slightly more comfortable.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

It all has to do with aligning your chakras with the Earth's magnetic field and the phases of the moon.

Its great to finally understand what ClouD is actually talking about for a change ^^

A benefit i have found is control over emotions. Learning to let go of attachments. If i have a memory that brings with it a negative emotion that i simply dont want to keep remebering over and over again, i am able to first become very aware of the negative emotion and then let go of it. Tehn in the future, i still get the memory, but no emotion is attached.

My next project is to try and add emotion to something. But thats for another day.
