Obama will win (for one reason)

Obama is very popular: (think about it) all the black people like him, and all the white people will think he is Tiger Woods.

He therefore appeals to a wide variety in racial demographic, he simply has to win.

Nobody has to win this election. We can hope, though.

Actually, I wouldn't mind Obama losing. For one thing twelve years of Republicans would be funny as hell, I'd love to see how left-wing America responds to it. For another, the next four years are going to be really tough. Whoever wins will be less popular by the end of their term than they are now.

If Obama wins, it'll probably be a mediocre presidency. But if he loses he will be remembered as a symbol of a better world that might have happened.

You never know what can happen in four years. Bush was elected (sorta) in a time of comfort and complacency, and now he's the lowest rated president ever in an atmosphere of embittered paranoia. The next president may well oversee a withdrawal from Iraq, a smaller operation succeeding in Afghanistan, and a stronger market system emerging from the "Great Correction." Under Obama, we'd probably see a renewed focus on infrastructure and education and a resurgence of international goodwill, as well.

With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

Because 40 million without health insurance doesn't constitute need.

What about 1980-1992? But those were different times. The economy was in recession (twice), oil was scarce, troops were in the middle east, and Bush was president.

But seriously, I think the economy is more robust than you think. I would be more worried about the rapidly expanding military than the rapidly expanding food prices.

I usd to like Obama but he's certainly not a better america. The man is a puppet, everyone has always been a fucking puppet. It's like people think because he's honest about drug usage (I bet mccain did more drugs than obama) it means he's not a politician.

McCain is pissing me off worse than ever, though, and I think a lot of people agree his priorities are WAY off or he's sold out to oil companies. Obama probably would have sold out, too. Definitely. Hilary already fucking sold out, cunt.

You don't need social programs to insure americans, you fix the current system, not make a new system which is a bureaucracy and sucks more.

      Socialism fails, always.

Well, you're closer to the truth than most people. But actually, socialism doesn't fail in its purpose, which is to enslave a population.

That is not the motivation of socialism.

Furthermore socialist ideas have been successful in the past. Socialism saved the whole fucking country in the 1930s. Yeah, have you ever heard of the New Deal?

The most successful aspects of the new deal were ones handled on a community basis, meaning no big federal bureaucracies. It means you don't have to look any further to find your evil socialist dictator than city hall. If the federal government remained completely hands off, covering only military and college subsidies, and we allowed local governments where democracy works to have a little bit of control, we could save the health system, the education system, and the economy.

The country was also in a much more large scale economic crisis than it is today.

If socialists took over the country, we'd all be living in filthy communes with 20 other people we don't know. People would depend on each other for everything, and dependence really steams my broccoli.

Socialist policies seem to be working just fine in the UK and European countries in general... not without problems of course, but no system is perfect.

So really... what's the big ol' fuss about 'scary socialism'. You guys make it sound like a boogeyman...

Well as you can see, it's mostly ill-thought out opinions by people properly conditioned into hating things that upset rich.

You guys know the Iroquos and the Sioux were communists, right? They all seemed pretty happy until Europe came and fucked them up.

What I find ironic about Yoda's little tirade is that I hate socialism precisely because it creates a system that favours the elite at the expense of a growing peasant class.
