Why would I check sources for all this superfluous stuff? I think there are more important things than the number of laptops shipped last year. Who cares? Cultural evolution has always been exponential. Well, except for the Christian ages.

Also, too much bullshit in that. A computer cannot "exceed" the capabilities of the human brain. That's like saying that a vacuum cleaner exceeds the capabilities of a washing machine - complete nonsense.

Also, simple economics tells us that there is no supply for something which can't exist - a human who always has the most recent information.

I agree that "capabilities" is too broad. I'm guessing that what they probably mean is storage capacity and/or calculation speed, which at least can be quantified.

You are thinking about the situation as if every thing has a specific purpose, or rather; a set list of capabilities that it can not deviate from.

A vacuum cleaner can easily exceed the capabilities of a washing machine. If the vacuum cleaner can get your clothes cleaner than you could by putting them in the wash, then it exceeded (at least one of)the washing machines capabilities. If computers can ever 'beat us at our own game' then they have effectively "exceeded our capabilities".
