*BUMP* Sorry I really want some oppinions![]()
1) People that are schizofrenic and also other types of "crazy", if u will, people can see stuff and hear stuff that isn't there.
2) This happens through brain "malfunction".
3) Humans are known to use aproximately 9-11 % of their brain, the "crazy" people are known to use a little more.
4) Through training, it would be possible to see/hear/experience things that aren't there, but you would be able to induce the illusion. (Awake)
Statement 4 = True or false ? please comment, i'm curious about the oppinions.
Yes i simplified the whole thing because i'm sure you guys all know what I mean and stuff and i don't need to write an essay for you people to make you understand what i mean and all ...

I don't know. Isn't there some meditation groups that claim to see/hear/feel things and such? Or maybe I'm talking nonsense.
Dream journal started January 8th:

Lucid dreams - why would you want to know?
Move this to where it belongs.
...Where does this belong? Certainly not here.

Um... so what are you saying... that you want to train yourself to be insane and see imaginary things?
The whole "people only use 10% of their brain" thing is a bunch of BS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10%25_of_brain_myth
well, it's probably not possible but one of my dream goals is to make a GUI (like in games where you see your health, goals, inventory, other info, etc in your vision) and through some training to have it also appear in real life. though it's most likely impossible and if it was could lead to other hallucinations.
TAKE DV members advice with caution! some have had zero or 1-2 LD's yet act like gurus
TOTAL LD's (almost all DILD/MILD) =160!!
new goals: have more LD's than Shift[X]
10-15min LD [ X] Article: A day in the life of an LD-er
the "Mind V.S. Body" Induction technique
Everyman 2 LD's/ sleep schedule progress
I'm sure if you really put your mind to it you could train yourself to hallucinate at-will. I have read various visualization exercises where the goal is to be able to visualize and project an object or objects in the air in front of you with open eyes.
Just not sure if it is such a good idea, especially if you are already prone to a neurosis of some sort. Who knows if that kind of phenomenon would remain under your control? If it didn't, it might be bothersome and push you into some sort of schizophrenia.
I don't really agree.
as that guy posted, the 10% thing isn't true.
Some people do hear/see things that other people don't.
Like i'm a musician so occasionally i'll hear a noise that the rest of my family won't, or my sister will be listening to the radio but there's so much treble or whatever that I can't stand it.
Yeah there are people who can control their hallucinations,
I think that's kinda what lucid dreaming is.
You put crazy in quotes, I know what you mean but,
I don't think having unwanted hallucinations would be an advantage in any situation.
Is your idea also that you could figure out a way to induce schizophrenia?
I suppose some people say certain music opens up their mind.
So i'm not sure. but I think for the most part being crazy is not a good thing.
Also definitely not the right part of the forum.

DILD/WBTB/MILD - 18
WILD - 2
Last LD - Jan 25th.
OK first off sorry for the wrong spot i posted this in.
And yeah I mean having it under control of course, it's true it could slip out of your control and do bad things to ya.

Yeah can't believe people still believe that 10% thing.
If you don't use certain parts of your brain the connections will just break.
If you use them you will make more connections.
(Nice segue there)
So if you visualise in your mind with your eyes closed, then get it to appear in front of your eyes with your eyes closed, then you could slowly train to have it come up with your eyes open. Because the brain connections to thinking and seeing are becoming more abundant. The problem is as other people have said, that it might run away on you. Unless you have almost complete control over your brain first, I wouldn't try it.
SO yes, I'd say true. You could do it. It would take probably 6 months of visualisation or auralisation(?)(visualisation but with hearing) or whatever other sense you want. 6 months for a start. More to get it under control etc.
To control it you'd have to only think about it at certain times. Like on a boring bus trip or while in your room and bored or whatever. Keep it for these special times and not all throughout the day, otherwise you will lose control of it.
For thousands of years, human beings had screwed up and and trashed and crapped on this planet, and now history expected me to clean up after everyone.
I have to wash out and flatten my soup cans. And account for every drop of used motor oil. And I have to foot the bill for nuclear waste and buried gasoline tanks and land filled toxic sludge dumped a generation before I was born.

For people that are schizophrenic that hear voices and see things..their probably just witnessing hypnagogic hallucinations and hypnagogic auditory.
I know i had this when i was super-high off weed one time. And they claim weed causes schizophrenia...lol, what a joke.

"Unease, anxiety, tension, stress, worry — all forms of fear — are caused by too much future, and not enough presence. Guilt, regret, resentment, grievances, sadness, bitterness, and all forms of nonforgiveness are caused by too much past, and not enough presence. "
“The key to success is to focus our conscious mind on things we desire not things we fear.”

We perceive everything subjectively, so yes it is possible to perceive anything you want. Though it should be said it won't happen through the senses. Your physical eyes won't show you anything but physical data. Its up to the brain, mind's eye, subconscious, etc to provide those images.
Most people call it visualization, search for that term if you want to learn more about how to do it. Its difficult to do at first because we're so used to using our physical eyes and we've been conditioned to believe that the images our eyes give us are the only images available. But the more you practice the easier it gets.
Jesus let it go lol i thought that 10%-shit was true![]()
But i think you could pose the question just as easily with or without the 10% thingy.

Dare To Dream
Sure.
You don't need to train, take some psychedelics. Although, if that is not your game you could try meditating, "magick", fasting, isolation tanks and see what works. Most are capable of producing something that wasn't there before, on some level or another. Full blown pink elephants? Maybe not, but perhaps there would be subtle changes in the projective mind.4) Through training, it would be possible to see/hear/experience things that aren't there, but you would be able to induce the illusion. (Awake)

A lot of schizophrenics think they are Jesus. Are they perceiving their Jesus status correctly? What about schizophrenics who think Lincoln is still the president?
Work at a mental health center for one month. It will totally rid you of any belief that psychotic people are tapped into higher levels of perception. You will realize that they are just chemically out of balance and need medicine.

So, you'/re talking about like an HUD (heads up display) in a video game, showing up in your field of vision?
Mmmmm... sure, I think you could learn to visualize that. Probably the best way would be to draw up exactly what you want it to look like, keep it fairly simple, and look at it a lot. Or if you have one in a game you want to use,... well, you've probably played it enough to have it memorized exactly what it looks like. Try visualizing it as you lay in bed before you go to sleep every night (this is the way Tibetan Buddhist Monks meditate, visualizing lotus flowers inside their own bodies with a candle flame burning inside the flower). If you start in the dark or with your eyes closed when you can spend a long time visualizing it you should get better and better at it.
It will never be as clear as actual objects in front of you... more like half-transparent at best.
A little scary though... I'm picturing you walking around town blowing people up all the time!!![]()

I've lost count of the amount of times I've heard you say "chemical imbalance" the way you say it here "just chemically out of balance" almost makes it seem like you're just saying it automatically now.
THIS IS A BULLSHIT CLAIM MADE MY BIG PHARMA TO SELL THEIR ANTI-DEPRESSANTS. FACT.
Get that through your head!
You cannot measure a persons chemicals in their brain, therefore nobody can know whether they are "chemically imbalanced" or not.
I'm actually almost convinced you work for a pharmaceutical company, either that or some mental health system where you've been fed this bullshit.
It's actually most likely caused by damage to certain areas of the brain or mis-wiring (two parts end up connected which shouldn't be etc.).
Anyway....
Some schizophrenics you could say are probably not in a higher state of awareness, catatonic schizophrenics for example. Although they could be, who knows what's going on in their heads. Some people who have less severe schizophrenia show much more creativity than the average person, or more than they did before they had schizophrenia. Also some talk of such things that can only make me conclude their ego is destroyed. So I think some people with schizophrenia are enlightened, I dunno about the higher states of consciousness, but that might be WHY they are enlightened.
Truth is it's all speculation though, they may just be nuts.
Also I don't like calling people with schizophrenia schizophrenics. Has anyone else notices that that makes them seem like non human? Like they used to think schizophrenics were beasts or devils or whatever else, it's like that thought has been carried over through language. I mean, we don't call people with depression "depressed's" or something or people with Bi-polar "bi-polard's".

Some mental illnesses actually are caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. Example.. taking lithium is an effective treatment for manic depression.
