I love it![]()
April Ryan is my friend,
Every sorrow she can mend.
When i visit her dark realm,
Does it simply overwhelm.

I've seen that. I find him to be somewhat of a presumptous prick.
As if there are two kinds of people. The ones that use the scientific method
and the ones that don't. As if there was no debate in the scientific community,
often times beyond what has been inconclusively proven, or as if there are
no people, who hold a spiritual world view that are deeply interested in sciences.
I don't know,.. there is a lot I could ramble on about. But to me this guy
just scratches the surface a little, picks out easy arguments and displays
them very one-sided and without any new or enlightening aspects. Sigh.
And I mean - that is totally fine, too. But isn't it a little bit conflicting that
he thinks of himself as an insignificant carbon and then tells people, who
think differently, to use google and wikipedia of all things?

You may not have met them but he's pretty accurately portraying a certain type of person, and ripping them.
As long as you don't assume he's doing anything more than showing how silly that type of person is, then there's no problem.
he isn't making big statements about types of people in the world or the nature of science. Don't read that into it.
Kyrie Eleison.

No, I have. And usually I have interesting conversations with them.
That goes as well for hardcore scientists or econonimsts, (or or or) even
though I might disagree on various points with any of them, I still don't
feel the need to 'rip' anybody. Even if I have reason to 'feel' superior.
And I don't really buy that he shows only one type of person. He uses a
stereotype and as we know, this quickly can become a general belief. Maybe
I am reading too much into it, but I'm guessing this video was posted to
convey a point and to have it discussed, too.
Anyway, this stereotype he decribes is very quickly cast upon one, when
trying to entertain ideas that are not generally accepted (yet?).
Achievements:
As far as a piece of art goes, that was inspired. I do have to say that his position in the story is nearly as annoying as Storm's. I have about the same feelings towards people who group everything that hasn't been proven by science together and reject it as I do towards people who do the opposite; believe anything that is 'alternative' and reject science.
What bothers me the most however is the people who do really fit the 'storm' stereotype and make the claim as she did that "science can't explain" whatever it is they are arguing exists. What these people don't seem to realize is that they marginalize themselves with these kind of blanket rejection of science and effectively shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to any sort of meaningful discussion on the subject. If it really exists, then science most certainly can explain it, since 'science' is merely methodical and rigorous examination. What I wish they would realize is what they really mean is science hasn't explained...whatever.

Tim Minchin is awesome.
- Are you an idiot?
- No sir, I'm a dreamer.
Love it. Amazing.![]()

Absolutely brilliant![]()

I've only really recently discovered Tim Minchin from a guy at uni, but he is by far one of the most incredible lyricists I've ever heard. He really is a genius, check out his other stuff, it's just as good or better than this. How he says such thoughtful things so succinctly and perfectly but simultaneously hilariously is just stunning.
