I agree! The last thing a nation needs is a leader with strong morals. Look at Gordon Brown. Anti-gambling, anti-smoking, anti-driving, anti-wasting food, etc. He really is a man of strong principles, which might be a good thing if his principles weren't moronic.

Uh... Isn't a party that believes 'fuck the future' the same thing as the republican party?![]()

I agree with these sentiments; while I've no doubt a McCain presidency would make the world a darker place, I can't help but think he would be well-meaning throughout. I need to see the man chewing on the face of a gesticulating nun.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama
They don't want to do anything about global climate change
They don't believe in civil rights for gays
They spend money knowing that future generations will pick up the tab
Sounds like "fuck the future" to me.
Taosaur: I don't think "well-meaning" is what the US is looking for in a president. I'm sure Bush was well-meaning most of the time.

They don't believe humans are causing it. It does not mean they are saying, "Fuck the future." They saw the global cooling scare of the 70's, know about global warming on Mars, and have experienced first hand how dishonest most environmental activists are. They have also seen the long list of major climate scientists, including the head of NASA, who say humans are not causing global warming. Even if the position is incorrect, it is understandable.
They believe in all of them except the rights to marry and adopt. Republicans want the future to be right in God's eyes. Republicans are wrong on those two issues, but they do want homosexuals to have all of the other civil rights. It is not about not caring about the future.
While trying to cut a lot of programs they don't believe in and increase the treasury by increasing revenues by lowering taxes. Even if they are wrong on that, it is not about having zero care about the world their grandchildren and beyond will live in.
I disagree with Republicans on a lot of things, but the extreme way they are characterized by the left by claims that they are psychopaths and don't care about the future of the world hurts the credibility of the left.
