It called being high.
Doing drugs does that.

First of all, I probably shouldn't be writing about this, and second of all, you probably shouldn't be reading it, but oh well. I tried to warn you. Oh, and drugs are bad, DON'T do them if you know what's good for you! Seriously, I don't advocate drug use.
To give perspective on things, I hadn't smoked at all in over a month because of pesky drug tests. But last night we smoked 2 bowls of headies and had quite the hookah session going, and probably too much alcohol. On a scale from 1 to 10 of highness, I was a 45. Time for me slowed down so much. It's hard to describe, but everything seemed extremely real. It was kind of like that feeling of right when you get lucid, only that feeling never left. It seemed like I was focusing on everything at once, I was noticing every single detail of everything, and all at the same time which made everything seem even more real and vivid. The best part is, I remember every second of it. When we walked down to see the fireworks, I could hear everyone talking to a degree I never thought possible. It was as if my full attention was on whatever was going on at that moment. But I knew it, and I couldn't visualize anything else that wasn't going on. So I just let it happen and had the best time of my life (not even exaggerating).
At one point, we tried to find a bathroom, and ended up waiting a line of probably about 7 people. It seemed like everyone was taking like 20 minutes each. I actually said "Is everyone taking a shit or something, what the hell?" Then one guy came out and he was like "I thought it'd never stop". The whole waiting in line / going to the bathroom seemed to me like it took 30 minutes at least, but it turned out to be only 5 minutes according to my phone.
The reason I posted this in the religion/spirituality forum is because that night really changed my life (or at least right now it has). I have always made an effort to try to live in the moment when I can, and those times were simply amazing for me. But this night was like living in the moment x 10, and it took no effort. I felt a connection with everything and everybody, but not with my body so much. It was like realizing that I'm just an awareness with a body. And now, the day after, everything is still so amazing, and still looks extra real (not to the same degree as last night, holy crap). Another way to put it is it was like my subconscious was one with my conscious or the other way around. I was conscious of everything that was happening that you usually don't notice, but you still see.
In case you were wondering just how fucked up I was:
2 hookah sessions, 2 bowls of headies (I took the hugest hits I could and held it for as long as I could (I've never done that for each hit before)) 5 coors lights, and a 40 oz private stock all before going down to see the fireworks. After the fireworks, we found a keg party and I had 4 more cups of beer. Then we walked back and smoked another bowl.

There's a school of thought which says that spirituality is about discipline, morality, social cohesion and inner peace. But I believe its also about having fun once in a while.

congradulations. I think you reached ZEN. If you can only keep it going. You got it made.

I never thought drugs could do that. But that experience has really changed my perspective on things for the better I'd say. It really made me appreciate the 'moment' on a whole new level. I used to wonder what it was like to truly live in the moment. But now I feel like I have a really good idea of what it's like.

What does "reached Zen" even mean?

I've tried shrooms once, and although it had some similarities, it was a completely different experience. I didn't take enough for any hallucinations, but it made every emotion I felt 10 times stronger, and colors were a lot brighter and more vivid. Towards the end, I had a few moments where I relived my entire life scene by scene in a second, after which I was completely disoriented and confused for 5 minutes and time seemed to stop at that instant. Looking back at it now, I would say it was similar to living in the 'now', but not very consistent at it. If I tried to, it was easy to, but I could also get completely lost in my own thoughts. In those moments of 'now' I felt somehow connected with everything, kind of how in dreams, everything is a part of you, and sometimes you sense it.

And the moral of this thread is don't do drugs.
How is your life changed? Are you going to study harder and make something off your life? Or just do drugs!
Albert Einstein didn't do drugs.

Sam Harris did Ecstasy and it changed his life in such a fashion that he dropped out of Stanford to study meditation and spirituality on silent retreats in places such as Nepal and India for a decade, only to come back later and study philosophy and neuroscience, release a NY Times bestseller and be an all-around ass-kicking religion-bashing award-winning badass motherfucker.

The thing I notice that has dramatically changed, is that so far, I'm still seeing things as being more real, and noticing connections between things. It's like I'm more aware of things now, everything. And with that, my life has changed in the sense that I am now deciding what I do, instead of doing things out of habit. I'm going to continue to go to college, and right now, at this point in my life, I see no reason to cut out the occasional drug fun. But you are correct in insinuating that life is what you make of it. You can't just wait around for stuff to happen and expect everything to be okay.
I think Albert Einstein smoked tobacco, which is a drug, so while he may not have done the drugs which society chooses to frown upon, he technically did do drugs. Or I could have been mistaken and he didn't smoke, but I'm like 97% sure he did.

Get the feeling as often as you can as long as you don't endanger yourself and others. Congrats and good luck achieving it again

Music is a lot better to me now. Listening to it, and playing it are now like 100 times more fun.

Just don't tie the sensation too much to the chemicals involved--life uses whatever materials are at hand, and if you do a lot of drugs, that means sometimes these experiences arise with drugs mixed up in them, but you'll never find a perfect way 'back' to such a state nor certain means to set up the 'next' one.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama
