      The alternative "theory" to evolution

First of all, evolution is a bunch of nonsense, as proven by this video...

      http://youtube.com/watch?v=FZFG5PKw5...eature=related

Now that we cleared that up, we are left with only one possibility...

Yep, because in the end, it was the work of a sexy genie who simply nodded everything into existence. Thank you kansas!

I wonder what would happen if we found life on another planet? How would the ID supporters react to that?

I think this peanut butter guy needs to go back to science class... or pass the first grade!

His analogy is not sound logic, because he is forgetting to include things outside the sealed jar. And the fact that peanut butter is cooked and sealed tight to keep it fresh. I think his mind cannot evolve beyond his self illusions because there is no life forms in his brain. I'd better stop here before I give them the idea of using the brain in place of hte jar of peanut butter. oops I already have oh well.

Nevermind even that. He's expecting to see a life form which has just come into existence.

What gets me about ID and the whole politically active Evangelical movement is not the errors in logic or ignorance of the facts, but the total disregard for whether or not what they're saying has any basis in fact. They're not trying to form a sound argument or reason from any consistent or coherent position, but only to dump as much noise as possible into the signals of modern science, sowing confusion and doubt from the ID angle while bringing in fear on the social issues with one end in mind: to leverage more political power for their 'side.'

It's as far removed from the goals of spiritual practice or true religious conviction as anything King George or the Inquisitors dreamed up, and it's shitting on the dinner plates of both politics and religion.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

I think that hits the nail on the head, for most cases. The intelligent design movement seems to be having more of a rationalization war than an honest debate.

This is bullshit! It's got NOTHING to do with evolution. The origin of life on Earth is a completely different field altogether! I'm so sick of people criticising evolution when they don't even know what it is. Just because scientists can't prove how life began on the planet does not mean evolution never happened, because that's NOT evolution! It would be abiogenesis from which theoretically evolution eventually happened. It also doesn't mean that since these two completely seperate fields of science can't come to an agreement that we should start to resort to our archaic texts for the answer.

Many deists believe in god as the creator of life but that evolution still occured. I find this much more plausible.

For those who would consider this cheating the bible I would just like to say that it was written by men, not god. I can trust genesis about as much as Harry Potter.

      1.Poe - A comment which proves Poe's Law

"Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing."

Poe's Law basically states that no matter how absurd or ridiculous a parody of fundamentalism is, someone will be unable to distinguish the parody from an actual example of fundamentalism, due to the latter sometimes being as absurd or even more so than the parody in question.

Then you show me an ant that popped up overnight in a jar of peanut butter.

This video explains how abiogenesis could have occured naturally. It is an extremely rare event and I should hope you won't find an ant in peanut butter. Given an infinite amount of time absolutely anything could happen in the universe. Abiogenesis is probably still happening across the world but any new organism could not possibly survive and evolve through natural competition.

When I first saw that video, I seriously uttered "Are you retarded?"

You need more light and heat exposed to a form of matter than just the light and heat you will find in a kitchen or a peanut butter factory. Also, These new forms of life are based on carbon. Peanut butter does contain carbon (From the peanuts and the butter), But There are huge reserves of carbon in the solar system, and if it is fused with a good enough source of light and heat, I could see life being possible. We are currently surviving from the energy of light and heat, because we eat animals that eat plants that get their energy from the light and heat of the sun, why couldn't life have been formed by the light and heat that keeps us alive today?

I really hope you don't think anybody is actually taking the peanut butter video seriously.

Evolution has been supported very well by science.

Oh come on it's not that obvious is it?

I get the whole Poe's law thing now, but my brain was off the first time I read it.

You came in here a few days after I posted the videos. The second one got taken off You Tube a few days ago because the company that owns the cartoon filed a copyright claim against You Tube. I think it was from The Family Guy, and a voice said that Kansas requires that an alternative to evolution be taught in the schools. Then it showed the genie on I Dream of Jeannie using her magical nod to pop animals, people, and machines into existence from nothing. I thought it was hilarious, but unfortunately it is no longer there.
