      Is Astrology for Realz?

      Let me know your opinions.

To roll the ball, I never bought it because I don't exhibit Capricorn traits. Then I learned there was more to astrology than just sun signs. When I read my entire natal chart, the essence that was me seemed pretty clear cut. My sun is in the twlefth house so the traits are all pushed away into my subconscious, which explains why I denied the Capricorn personality.

As far as horoscopes go, I think its possible but a chart can be read many different ways as each house, planet and sign represents a wide variety of possibilities so general ones for your sun sign shouldn't be trusted. ALso, they don't predict the future, they merely explain what cycle you will be in as far as learning goes.

Astrology has a very clever way of saying very basic things about everyone anywhere and then dividing it up into twelve paraphrasings to give the impression it is magical.

Have you ever looked up your natal chart? It's not so general. I'm not talking about those fucking newspaper horoscopes.

It depends on how you look at it. astrology as a "predict the future, and your personality and future is defined entirely by what time of year you were born" device is a load of goat shit.

However, some pieces of astrology ARE useful from a therapy standpoint. If you're having some kind of problem in your life, and if you're stuck, because you're constantly looking at it from the same angle, the randomness introduced by pulling out a tarot card and suggesting an interpretation might be just what you need to explore other mindsets and maybe find a solution to your blocker.

Astrology is the biggest pile of crap. Explain to me how arbitrary patterns of hydrogen plasmas, rocks, and/or other celestial bodies will have any impact whatsoever on your life?

"Holy crap, a star light years away currently has [whatever property], that makes me feel bold [or whatever nonsensical prediction] today!"

Not to mention that the 'advice' given is extremely vague and could apply to almost anyone, and that people have a habit of remembering the stuff that was coincidentally right, whilst forgetting that which was miles off the mark. Try reading all the predictions.

If you have a problem in your life, speaking to someone ignorant who pulls out random cards and gives vague interpretations, is not the way to solve them. If you have financial problems for instance, there are many qualified people you can talk to to help you see a way through it. Randomised vague advice is not going to help (and if it does it's purely a coincidence).

I agree with the daily predictions verses the natal stuff. I had someone draw up and explain my natal chart and it was like they were reading my mind.

Also, ask anyone who works in an ER, a mental facility, a police station, ect about nights with a full moon.

      No. It's fakez.

I mean just think about it logically. What does some distant planet have to do with your sex life on Tuesday?

I have a good personal story relating to astrology:
Well, one day I read my newspaper horoscope: "Gemini". Anyway, it told me that today "You will experience profound personal growth; in order to do so you must let go of all earthly utilities and trust solely in yourself". By sheer conicidence I happened to have an exam that day, but, obeying the latter, the "profound personal growth" in mind, I decided to leave my "earthly" pen at home. After failing my exam, I was understandably angry, and as a result was not paying attention when I was hit by that bus, but did not lose consciousness. A few weeks later the doctor joked with me that I had too much internal bleeding in my areas, and that they, all three of them, would have to be castrated. A grimace or two later, he admitted that he was just joking, and added that I was so "gullible"; and thus the prophecy was fullfilled, I experienced "profound personal growth" through realising that I was gullible: I believed things too easily.
      Thank you Astrology!

I'm not surprised someone who drinks spring water would fall for astrology.

The planet Earth exhibits all of these properties and therefore can be considered alive and its own single organism by the scientific definition.
      7. Reproduction: The ability to produce new organisms.
does the planet Earth reproduce, well no unless you count the moon.

I thought it was reasonably evident that I was talking more about internal/emotional stuff. And I also didn't mean "follow random advice" but rather, an element of randomness to how you think about your problems can open your mind to a better solution. It's the entire basis of monte carlo methods, and an important part of several branches of AI (e.g. simulated annealing). That's the way I'm talking about using it. Astrology isn't the best way to introduce that bit of randomness, and you're an idiot if you give money to someone else for it, but the potential benefit has to be acknowledged.

      Yeah astrology is for real!

Astrology used to be the old word for astronomy, but astrology grew out into two parts, predicting future events through the planets and the stars, and just the planets and stars themselves. The latter part of astrology grew out to astronomoy, which is science. The first part, astrology as a tool to predict future events grew up to some bullshit prediction of personal character traits... how completely useless?

Anyway I think theres also some truth in predicting the future through the planets and stars. It is true that you can predict major events through the planets and stars, simple stuff like days and months, elcipses etc, but some people claim you can even predict more than that. If a small planet like the moon can effect all the water on earth and pull it up, you might guess that a huge planet like Jupiter might have some effects on earth to, if a small planet (sattelite) like the moon has such huge effects!

I don't know much about astrology, but I do think, the astrology we call astrology today is total bullshit. Not because astrology is bullshit, but because the people who make up those horoscopes are full of it and can stuff them where the sun doesn't shine. Horoscopes are so obviously random generated.

Because Gravity (despite being weaker by a factor of 10^38 than the electromagnetic force) is able to influence neurochemical processes in the brain, manipulating how impulses travel through the vast network of neurons, and thus affecting the very way you think and what your personality is.

when I read horoscopes I have to admit that it does follow me, but It just seems too illogical to believe that it isn't a hoax. I'm not sure how they do it, but I'm not sure how magicians do stuff, even though I know it's not real.
