What is so mind blowing is that about a quarter of the people who post under that guy's videos don't pick up on the fact that they are satirical. It is an embarrassment to atheism when one atheist after another argues with the things said in the videos. That seems to be a big problem on You Tube. I can't make a smart ass comment on that site without ten people wanting to argue with what I said. When I explain that it was sarcasm, half of them are confused out of their minds. You Tube is a Mecca for total morons.

I did not know about that law until you brought it up. That does explain a lot. The fundamentalist videos are so absurd that they are sort of close to sounding like what the satirical videos sound like. But still, it seems like the sarcasm is pretty glaring in Edward Current's videos. In one of them, he wears a Jewish hat on top of a turban and says he is a member of every religion, and people STILL took it seriously.

I dunno, I was nearly fooled myself on the first video I saw, but thankfully I saw it was a satire the more I watched that video in particular. Also, to be fair, Edward Current actually argues for the Bible a lot better than some apologetics I've come across, even though he is being satirical. So in a way, it is understandable that people fall for this.

Out of curiosity, does the video work for anyone else? I can view other YouTube videos without any trouble. I would like to watch this vid.

That is true. He is using the same arguments fundamentalists use. He just presents them in such a way that the absurdity of them is much more highlighted than when fundamentalists use them. The video I posted at the top resembles the real thing more than a lot of his videos. I am mainly talking about the one where he says he is a member of every religion and his other really outrageous ones. But also, too many You Tube commenters have a problem of NEVER being able to recognize any kind of sarcasm.

Aye, but as for Youtubers, the more vocal they are, the more likely they are to be assholes (those who not only rate everything down, but HAVE to comment on every video they see in a negative way). As for detecting satire, it has to be of the very obvious type in order to be recogniseable by these people.
