Nope, it doesn't matter, i thought i made that clear in my first post.

The major misconception is the fact that non-whites interpret jesus to have been white
I as an ex-Muslim can tell you that every Muslim I ever encountered and spoke to jesus about regarded saw Jesus as an Arab man, of a relatively similar complexion to that of the Prophet
Although of course Muslims never paint or draw either of these figures
This occurs throughout society everywhere, I had a teacher that went to Africa, the Christian congregations their viewed jesus as a negro
This occurs not just with Jesus
In European paintings of Heaven you'll find that the Angels are predomintatly White
Santa Clause is portrayed as white
We must also remeber that most things that we believe about jesus are not necessarlity true.

Ha, the irony.

It were the white people in europe around the middle ages that 'took' jesus and turned them into a White Man. In their minds a devine being quite possible coudn't even be black, so I think. People were pretty darn racist back then.

Basicly, jesus is white, because people were racist.

It is also extremly lame how much people do worship an image of some weird, tall, white boy that never existed, and then I even let the existance of jesus christ out of the picture, I just mean such a white dude with super powers never existed.

Make jesus black again. Like in that song of madonna. One of the few points where madonna had a point.. I think.

The white ones are obvious, its just down to old racism and the fact that people find a white Jesus easier to relate to
The balck jesus is generally used to gather controversory and make a statement

The whole point of there being no visual record of the appearance of Christ, is that theologically it makes him an Everyman. He was without doubt Jewish in appearance, but with no literal data to go on, people envisage him personally, and this helps endear him to the individual. Is Jesus black? Of course! Is he white? Certainly! Is he Asian, Oriental, Arabic, Latino, Aboriginal or Native American in appearance? Yes... without a doubt... and that is how it should be!


But keep in mind as well he lived as a child in Egypt where, presumably, his appearance did not make him stand out.

Jews and Arabs, wwell yes your correct if your being pedantic but on w hole when discussin apperance they come from the same region and have no discernable physical difference

and also that depends wether you regard Jews as a race
or merely people of the same religion

Jesus was most definately of a dark complexion. Most people know that, and as a matter of fact, I see more and more images of him gradually getting darker.

However, one think to concider is that around this era, greeks were the world empire, and most greeks are viewed as a white race. Alot of the misconceptions of the Bible are from the medieval period, where the Catholics created many traditions that were not backed by the Bible, to appeal to its followers.

Regaurding the "existence" of Jesus. He existed. There are non-biblical sources found from the cultures of that era that back his existence. However, whether or not you believe he did the acts he did is up to you.

Just because your not a bigoted fundementalist and you know that Jesus was of a darker complexion doesnt mean you should assume msot people do

Yeah, actually I'd have to agree with this. But I find it more evident in the older generations. Most of the new breed seem to put two and two together and realize that he must have been dark skined. After all, didnt he spend most of his days traveling in a desert? I dont think they had SPF 80 back then...
