Thread: Is god tolerant....or not?

I'm not christian, so I don't even believe in God. But if he did... I find him a very intolerant person.


But that's not why I came here for. I'm sure there'll be christians who are gonna post he actually is tolerant. Then my question (which I think is more important that 'is he tolerant?') is this:

WHY does he condemn homos, nonbelievers, etc.? WHY can't we? WHY is it so bad/evil?


I think I know the answer already... But let's just hear it from them...

Yea, it doesn't make any sense since he would have a) created homosexuals and b) would have created other faiths.

Thats actually a question ive had for a while now...if he is so tolerant and forgiving and loving, why does he damn you for not beleiving in him or for being gay/bi?

I was raised Catholic, but I'm not really anything now. I don't believe in quite anything, but to put it more plainly, I don't give ten fucks whose pulling the strings up there.

The Catholic Church is so contradictory, because they say to treat everyone equal, and we are ALL God's "children", yet exclude homosexuals and other minorities. It's a bunch of politics that I find have no place in a Church. That being said, they all look like a bunch of babbling morons.

As that example proves there is alot of intolerance in the bible, it just depends whether those words are the words of God or not. Although obviously if we throw those paragraphs out as not being from the teachings of God then we can't exactly trust anything else in there either.

In other words, what 'God' is and what he likes/dislikes is all dependent on the person. So a bigoted person who believes in a God will most likely declare that God hates everybody he hates (maybe not out loud, but the correlation is there), whilst a more moderate/liberal believer will believe in a much more tolerant God.

So much for absolute truth...

Maybe God is gay and is struggling with the fact that he cannot admit it to himself. That is usually the case with people who militantly hate homosexuals, and I can't think of a more militant example than somebody who uses eternal torture as a punishment for being gay. Hmmm...
