Wow, I'll defs bring this up in Church.

Apparently, the Bible is in line with things that modern science has discovered since the time it was written, things that the people of that time period probably did not understand.
Here’s a quote from http://christiananswers.net/q-eden/edn-t003.html:
Another striking evidence of divine inspiration is found in the fact that many of the principles of modern science were recorded as facts of nature in the Bible long before scientist confirmed them experimentally. A sampling of these would include:These are not stated in the technical jargon of modern science, of course, but in terms of the basic world of man's everyday experience; nevertheless, they are completely in accord with the most modern scientific facts.
- Roundness of the earth (Isaiah 40:22)
- Almost infinite extent of the sidereal universe (Isaiah 55:9)
- Law of conservation of mass and energy (II Peter 3:7)
- Hydrologic cycle (Ecclesiastes 1:7)
- Vast number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22)
- Law of increasing entropy (Psalm 102:25-27)
- Paramount importance of blood in life processes (Leviticus 17:11)
- Atmospheric circulation (Ecclesiastes 1:6)
- Gravitational field (Job 26:7)
- and many others.
And as far as historical accuracy goes…
The following is a quote by Dr. Nelson Glueck, one of the greatest modern authorities on Israeli archeology.
"No archeological discovery has ever controverted a Biblical reference. Scores of archeological findings have been made which confirm in clear outline or in exact detail historical statements in the Bible. And, by the same token, proper evaluation of Biblical descriptions has often led to amazing discoveries."
And here’s a link that I want you to go to and read the whole article: In what ways have the discoveries of archaeology verified the reliability of the Bible?
Now post thoughts.![]()

there was a show that I saw, showing a strange archeological site
its bloody ancient, it was already ancient when the egyptians were around. so old. based on the dating of when the architecture must have been built, people back down were dumb as dirt
problem is, the architecture is mind numbing sophisticated. stones that could only but shaped with diamond? mathematically precise? a massive large scale, accurate construction? the archeologists couldn't imagine how any of this was possible, without written directions at the least. in a time period where written language isn't the norm. I mean, they related the construction to building a highway. You can't verbally construct a highway. You need someone to design it, and have the design clearly written out so every worker knows what the hell they are doing
written language opens pandoras box for a culture
just what it takes for humans to come together, construct, and how they constructed the architectures, blows away our conventional thinking that ancient men knew nothing
what else did ancient men know? did they have a science?
there are so many stories, even the bible, of advanced cultures being destroyed. all their knowledge, lost.
this could be one alternative explanation as to why the bible can contain knowledge that is ahead of the contemporary writers. of course, i'm not denying the ability for a divine message to hold more meaning for a future generation. but both realities are equally amazing to me
Roundness of the earth (Isaiah 40:22)
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in
Almost infinite extent of the sidereal universe (Isaiah 55:9)
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Law of conservation of mass and energy (II Peter 3:7)
But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men
Hydrologic cycle (Ecclesiastes 1:7)
All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
Vast number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22)
As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.
Law of increasing entropy (Psalm 102:25-27)
25Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. 26They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
27But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.
Paramount importance of blood in life processes (Leviticus 17:11)
For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Atmospheric circulation (Ecclesiastes 1:6)
The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits
Gravitational field (Job 26:7)
He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
I am not sure I really agree with most of that. In fact most of them seem silly and some of them don't have anything to do with the quote. Some of them do make sense, but I am not entirely convinced that it took the word of god for people of the time to realize that water went into the ocean and that rain refilled the river. Nor is the idea that knowing which way the wind blows is hard.

It's in the interpretation. People have debated Biblical interpretation for years.![]()

It's an overly far stretch I think...to interpret those verses into modern truthfulness and accuracy.
Looks like shit to me. :x

I agree Alric you can try to find meaning in a vague quote but your only looking for what you hope to find.
For example If i said this: " And the plants are green, green is the colour of their life"
you could try and say: "obviously he means the green in plants are the chlorophyll pigments which absorb light for photosynthesis which they need to live"
I said something obvious "plants are green". From that if you want me to sound knowledgeable you can try and find complex meaning that isn't there.
Lugggs and cuddles and hugs for all!!
