First of all, the things i am about to discuss are not things i would actually do, so dont think i\'m some kind of sicko. Here we go.

Is raping a woman in a lucid dream a sin? Would child molestation be a sin? What about murder? I mean come ON!!! What fun is a lucid dream without killing somebody? So my point is, is a sin only a sin when it actually affects other people?

If you say that yes, they are sins, isnt that selfish? Isnt that saying that sinning is about YOU and not the people you hurt? I just want to find out what you people think about this.

Hmm, well assuming that dreaming is a completely abstract thing with no effect on anything in the physical world, there's no reason why not. However, even if you don't believe in anything divine about dreams, there is a chance that it would alter you psychologically; heck, probably does. Depends on your views I guess

I thought you didn't beleive in sins.

anyway, yes, It is. Sin is just as much in the intention as in the act. If you rape a woman in your dreams, then you are showing her no respect, and to women in general, you are spitting on them

you see what I mean

naw, i really dont understand.

A sin is \"bad\" because brings harm to another human being. Raping a woman in dream does not harm anybody. Sure, it may cause some emotional damage to you if you take it seriously enough. But i think i know the difference between the dreamworld and reality.

and just because i am an atheist doesnt mean i think my actions wont go unpunished. I understand why sins are bad, and yes, i BELIEVE in them.

well, We really cant say weather it ultimitly is good or bad, its not Our call, but doesn't it also lower your opinion of woman in general?

no, it doesnt lower my opinion of women. In fact, I will say that sinning in a dream is a GOOD thing. If you have sexual desires to rape women, doing it in a dream will prevent you from doing it in real life. It\'s kind of like venting. Plus, you can do anything you want with them in a dream, like make them not fight back!

i shouldnt have said that.....

you probably shouldn't have. But here is a problim: the more you do something, the more it becomes a habit. If you dream rape woman in your dreams alot, then your mind will assosiat all woman with you raping them. Its the amazing and irratating thing about neural nets.

rather, have a dream date, and then have sex. rough sex if you like, but not rape.

o come ON!!! You gotta give the human brain a little more credit than that!! I dont think that i could possibly rape enough women in my dreams to confuse the dreamworld with reality

Im going to have to disagree with you Keeper this time.

I wouldnt think it a sin. Why? We are always being tempted to do evil, always being tempted to kill, steal, rape, hurt, ect. We also become angry and violent because of this temptation. To get rid of this temptation you can do one of too things, the easy way, or the hard way. Give into it, and make Lucifer's job that much easier, or fight it, and let it out some other way. Another way would be hitting a pillow.

Temptation however is all in our head(I dont mean made up). We are tempted by the devil, and he puts sinful thoughts in our mind. If we give into these thoughts, we've sinned. As long as they stay in our head, they are still just tempful thoughts. Dreaming is all in our head, and if we commit the acts in our dreams, the idea of that sin was still only in our head. It didnt hurt anyone, if provided no benifit to yourself at someone elses expence.

Commiting a sinful act in a dream, cant really be thought of as sinful in my opinion, as its just another way to let out this temptation. Your not hurting anyone, or taking advantage of anyone.

eh...one more thing i dont like about Christian doctrine. The devil is blamed for evil thoughts, not the people themselves. What do these thoughts look like?

I can explain all of that. Murder is basically the same thing as killing. Killing has been programmed into our brains as a survival technique (but when you mix current human emotions with it, it turns into murder). Rape comes from our animal instinct to fulfill sexualy desires. Its a procreative instinct. When you dont get laid, your body still wants to fulfill its only true goal. Reproduction and procreation. Stealing is another human instinct, lefover when we would steal food and supplies from other animals to better our own situation.

Keep in mind that we live in a PHYSICAL world, so our desires our based on physical objects. If it really is the devil who gives us these thoughts, then why do women commit less crimes than men? Males, in our primitive history, were the ones doing most of the killing, stealing, and yes, raping. That is why we still have these agressive attitudes.

Sins, as we know them, come from our animal instinct to better our own situation at the expense of others. Not from mythological creatures.

Considering your dream world is YOUR dream world, killing/raping in your dreams can be either good or evil. But the concept of sin itself is confusing. To say a dream can be sinful I have yet to know what the hell "sin" means.

To hurt other people? Even nature hurt you.
To hurt yourself? Time does it for you, anyway.
To make people suffer? They already suffer alone.
To destroy others' dreams? Fate itself has already done that, silly.

So is the world a big sin? I don't get it. I don't want to see people suffering, and I wouldn't make them suffer. But It happens everyday. It's a sad cycle that happens over and over. I want to help people, but I'm always the one to be helped.

And what's the big deal with dreams? Of course you should stop if it's influentiating your waking life, but otherwise... would you consider it evil? Isn't the woman you're raping in your dream anyway? Well, I wouldn't mind raping my thoughts >_> I think they wouldn't mind too. Doesn't it make it fair for you to do whatever you want with your possessions? IS SHE HUMAN ANYWAY??? Do you really believe someone will judge you for killing/raping in your dreams??????

If the thing we call justice were THAT accurate... there wouldn't exist evil in this world.

Raping a woman in your dreamworld is not a sin. It has nothing to do with that .. you don't hurt anyone, just as people already said... I would agree in some way with Keeper, that if you do it all the time, it might overtake you without noticing ..
But think of what you might have dreamt of without even being consciously responsible for .. here and there it comes pretty close to raping a woman .. doesn't even have to involve yourself .. just that the potential is given..

I agree if most of the people here in that I don't think you are committing a sin because you aren't performing any actions except dreaming.

If you doing this for just a bit of fun, I think there is nothing wrong with it, but if you have always wanted to kill someone in real life :/ and never have for fear of the consequences, then this sort of thing to could to a bigger problem.

A bit of cruel intention don't you think?

so i am guessing you think masturbation is not a sin? because if you do your contradicting yourself big time. when your horny or whatever is it ok to masturbate? no its not. its all about self control. some may say that it will stop you from raping someone or whatever but thats in extreme cases and if they were like that they would probably do it anyways. any ethics you follow in real life you should follow them also in dreams. but i agree with Frosty Chaotix in regards to it is a sin depending on the person... because of their ethics.

as the brain is the most important orgin of sex, and all this happend in your mind, I still think it is sexual sin

Your cutting out a lot of my post. I only dont think those things are sin in the dream world, because its all in your mind. As long as its in your head and stays there, I dont believe it to be sinful.

but if it is in your head, and you feed it ...

It happend to me once (no, not rape). I let something fesster in my mind, telling myself that I wouldn't act on it.

Bad news. By feeding it, it became stronger than me.

But your not hurting anything. Your not harming anyone's body or spirit. Its only sinful thoughts, not sin in themselves until you act on them. Think of it this way, have you ever been incredibly angry? Has someone ever done something to you in such a way that the anger you felt was near overwhelming? Now, obviously you didnt kill the person because you have morals, but thoughts of hate and violence have probably crossed your mind. Those thoughts are uncontrolable, acts of our emotions. You can imagine murdering someone in your head. Do it now. Picture in your head you violently killing someone. Have you actually hurt any body? No. Do you actually plan on killing any one? No(at least I hope not). Its in your head, and you work to keep it there.

Yes if you keep imagining yourself killing like that, it may overtake your thoughts. But its once it leaves your mind, and enters the world... once you actually harm someone's mind, body or spirit that it becomes a sin. Once you commit the act.

Yeah it could possibly take over your thoughts, which is why we have to work to keep it there. We're always working to keep the evil inside of us surpressed. Acting out in dreams, commiting evil acts in your head can be a good way to surpress those feelings of hate. As long as it stays in your head, and harms no one, I personally don't believe it can be considered sin.

so if your just thinking about having sex with someone thats not considered a sin? according to most christian faiths just the lust for another woman is as bad as commiting adultery with them.

Not being religious, I wouldn't use the word "sin", rather just a horrible act that deserves 1000 lashes but I couldn't have said it better myself. Quoted for truth.

You are not evil until you have an indifference to innocent suffering. Being indifferent to a dream character is not evil. They do not experience anything. They are totally fictitious. It is like making a movie where characters get hurt. If you are not taking chances on hurting anybody, you are not doing anything evil.

I get huge kicks playing games like Grand Theft Auto. I don't even get at all concerned about the object of the game. I just laugh my ass off running over pedestrians, smashing into diners, stealing cars and wrecking them on purpose, and beating up paramedics while they are trying to put people in ambulences. I love doing that stuff. But I am a trillion miles from ever wanting to do that to real people. My conscience would not even begin to be able to handle three seconds of that. But video game characters are totally unreal and therefore experience nothing at all, just like movie characters and dream characters.

This thread raises another question in my mind. Scientists are working on robots that look, feel, and act just like humans. They are trying to make robots that can perform sexually and seem just like humans. They are even trying to program them to carry on conversations. So imagine having one of those. They are robots and experience nothing. They will have no conscious experience whatsoever. A little while after I first heard about that, a twisted idea crossed my mind and made me laugh. What if somebody wants to get his kicks by raping one of them constantly? There is a whole world of crazy stuff that somebody could do to his robot on a regular basis, only to watch her respond afterwards by smiling and acting like he is entitled to it and then carrying on like nothing happened. She could even cook dinner as you rape her and smash her head against the wall the whole time, and then she would act totally peachy. I think the idea is hysterical, but I would never say that about doing that to a real woman. I support capital punishment for people who do that to real women. But to a robot? Now, that's just hilarious. Do you think such a thing would be evil? What about raping a blow up doll? Is that mentioned anywhere in the Bible?

If that was true then every normal male on this planent would be headed to hell. It's just not possible in today's society for the male to not think about sex from time to time seeing that we see half naked females walking around everywhere. And also we were created to have sex drives. It's not Satan putting lustful thoughts in your head. It's you and your hormones taking a look at someone and thinking "man... I'd sure like to..." - basic psycology, we all have an Id (animal drives)

I think God would be a little more lenient on us who live during this age then those who lived 200 years ago when showing skin was severly looked down upon.

Unless you are 100% lucid when you commit this in a dream, it does not count as a sin. If you are 100% lucid, then I'd say yes it would be.

We most likely have all performed sins in our dreams.
When we become Lucid we have to take into account that it is now a conscious choice.
Lucid = Conscious, hence choice.

Lucid dreaming can be a Forum to where you can have acts of violence or sexually explicit acts and no ill side affects in physical form.
If considering raping a woman, you may never do that in your waking life. It does seem to raise a question to how you emotionally are charged toward that specific desire.
