Very recently i have been studying out spirituality, and i started seeing auras so i thought i could try and see my own...

So i was looking myself in the mirror concetrating on one spot (like i usualy do when i try to see an aura) and i drew one on my forehead. My aura was supposed to appear around me like with all other objects i observed, but this time it was different. First my sight started to blur, and very soon the only thing i could see clearly was the dot on my forehead i made with a pen. Suddenly i saw a face - that was in fron of mine and it formated iteself from the blur. It was really scary - it looked human, but a very old human beeing (about 400 lol) and it looked pretty angry. It was gray in color, maybe a little greenish and was turning purple. Didn't move.

Needless to say i got so freaked out i jumped up and nearly cried out for help. The next day, when i gatherd enough courage to see it again, i saw it a little differantely... almost like a stone statue, but still human like... still not smiling.

Does anyone know what this is?? am i going mad, or seeing a real person, a ghost or a statue that exsists somewhere??

If anyone has ANY idea what this might be please tell! or even better if it's happend to you.

You need to quit screwing with yourself with these silly tricks that they teach at those expensive Weedend Siminars, which I thought only silly middleage housewives ever attended. But I guess they talk too much of the silliness they learn at these affairs.

Anyway, what this staring into a mirror does is to use up the specific biochemical ingredients in the eyes and brain which would give the normal color and resolution to the image being stared at. You see, normally the eyes move around and new movements catch our awareness and by moving from image to image and color to color, our eyes and brain can keep up with the proper chemical outputs to process and develop our continuity of sight vision. But just staring introduces a dysfunction.

So, when you stare into a mirror for just a few minutes, ofcourse, you will soon find yourself seeing some colorless and focus shifting version of yourself. What else would you expect to see, given the circumstances?

And all other Aura Seeing is based upon the same principles... of draining off the neural pigments by staring at fixed objects. Stare at a girl in a green sweater, and you will see a Red Aura. A Yellow Dress will cast a Blue aura just as Blue will throw Yellow. In short, when your eye and brain are drained of a specific pigment, we will end up seeing the opposite color in some shifty aura. Nothing supernatural about it at all. Indeed, I am always surprised that the silly women who attend these New Age Seminars do not openly rebel when they are pressed into these idiotic exercises, as what is happening should be entirely clear to anybody but a .... Well, I should not say it, because it seems that you were fooled by it yourself.

And I am not ordinarily a Skeptic, but this kind of thing causes us Spiritualists to be quite the deserving laughing stock of the Scientific Community who then goes on to suppose that we must be equally retarded and gullible about every other thing as well.

I did not read this post in depth enough to do it justice as I am pretty short on time and had no sleep as usual.

You're not alone, Wolf. I used to play that game with myself when I was a kid. It gets really trippy when you have panty hose on your head. I'm totally serious. When I was about 9, I would sometimes put my mother's panty hose on my head to look freaky, and then I would stare at myself in the mirror for about ten minutes straight and watch all kinds of trippy images happen. I used to do it without panty hose also. I hadn't thought about it in a while, but your post has me wanting to try it again. I don't know about keeping panty hose in one of my drawers, but I want to meditate on my reflection and watch all the crazy images. It's really cool stuff.

I also loved to spin for minutes at a time and make myself outrageously dizzy when I was a kid. Looking back, those were probably signs of a psychedelic drug lover in the making, but a later lucid dreaming enthusiast.

Leo Volont - thanks for giving the answer. It is very possible, but not necessarely true... It's too skeptical for me to beleve in, but then again i dont beleve in almost anything. i just do a lot of research and experimentation. Im not a spiritualist, but it's stupid to make fun of them since you can learn stuff from them. it's nothing to discard so easely, and do try and be more open - minded.

And now i was able to creat the same face in like.....15 seconds. last time i tried it the whole stoneface coverd up my face...

There is really nothing to openminded about with this Aura Exercise -- the phenomena is simply too easily duplicated using Colored Paper -- lifeless colored paper. Really, at a certain point people have to draw the line between being Open Minded and being a druelling braindead Retard.

Yeah, new faces will completely take over. When I did it, there was a constant flow of faces. Each face would last very briefly. It wasn't just the faces that were changing. It was like I was going into a trance. My conceptualization of reality was doing bizarre things too. It was like each face came with its own background world. Man, I have got to do that again.

Try and see what i saw - it'll change your mind COMPLEATLY. and i dont BELEVE this to be some kind of spirit, but i think that "coloured paper" thinking, wont make progress here. i think you should at least try and see a different point of view, and not necessarely spiritualistic, but just explore the variety of answers, instead of just discard them with that one.
in anyway - even if it is a "colored paper", it was a very exciting thing to see!

It can help explaining some optical effects and it's quite funny.

I'm not discarding spiritual explanations a priori, but your case may be explained by the normal functioning of our brain and by optical rules.

My rule of thumb is that we should apply the simplest theories to facts: if a good physical or psychological theory satisfactorily explains an observation, we can avoid more complex explanations.

That is so awesome. I want that on my wall. I saw the nonexistent green light, the vanishing of the pink dots, and the after flashes of the green light even after I looked away from the picture. Very cool.

Wolf, sounds like a contact with entities or thought-forms on the Astral plane. What you are saying here is very possible. One of my friends is a rather powerful astral clairvoyant and I have come to see that this method of contact with the unseen is full of surprises.
