Excerpt:
Monsignor Gianfranco Basti, director of the Vatican project STOQ, or Science, Theology and Ontological Quest, reaffirmed John Paul's 1996 statement that evolution was "more than just a hypothesis."
"A hypothesis asks whether something is true or false," he said. "(Evolution) is more than a hypothesis because there is proof."
Crazy...I didn't expect the church to even consider evolution as a viable scientific theory for another 400 years or so...

Will be interesting to see if the Pope himself has anything to say directly about this.
You guys don't believe anything the pope says anyway, so why believe this?![]()

OK, guess I should have read more closely
Seems a pretty bold statement by god's chosen representative.

I find it amusing that the hardcore creationists (Rev and dreamtamer) haven't responded to this yet.

Thank god for science and atheism!
Does this mean that the mangod-twins will stop posting in this forum? And how much more blatantly spammy shit do we have to put up with? Seriously?![]()

There was someone running around impersonating you last week. I was starting to become frightened that you had been bodysnatched or something. Until I remembered that no such thing exists... But anyway - WB!

I don't want to hear about the brain from someone that doesn't have one.
Nor do I want to hear about evolution from someone that hasn't evolved.

Even if the spiritual realm were remotely indicated as a reality, the catholics are so not God's chosen representative. The catholic election system for their officials are all humanly done, do you even know how the pope was selected?.....let's just say it involved smoke.
Well, you should be aware of the popular compromise of evolution and creationism, therefore rationalizing how the 6 creation days were "longs days" which could might as well translate into many many years. I don't think the cardinal would risk compromising his original creed with a flat out "creationism is false" and stay an official in the roman catholic church.
naturals are what we call people who did all the right things accidentally

Ha, yeah...well, you know, I tried -- I REALLY tried to look on the bright side and just be all happy and tolerate everything...but these guys are just so...well, intolerable. I'm not trying any more new age crap. I'm on a mission, and I'm not gonna rest until both of these guys are O-U-T O-F H-E-R-E!Originally posted by kimpossible

I like your new avatar.
In fact, I think it's wonderful how your avatar represents your current outlook. Easy to tell at-a-glance whether one wants to engage with you or not. Great use of avatars!
(sorry for the OT - just seemed the right time/place since a valid response to BradyBaker's post is almost certainly not forthcoming. . .)
Heck, why don't I do it for them? That way I can be back On Topic:
"I'm not Catholic. My God is right, theirs is just a demigod underling flunky to my God. I know my God is the right one 'cause I believe so. And you should too. Anyway, they wussed out - but we're not buying it for a moment!"
Now go back through that paragraph, insert about three hundred bizzarro spelling errors, mix the words up in random order, and remove any part of the statement that might make sense, even in an alternate universe. Finally sprinkle in some really vaugue insults that any person with the IQ of a turnip could tell were directed at BB, but not so obvious as to be moderate-able. There. Now you have a response to your query, BB.

It's OK -- especially now that the forum split is official, and there's no sense of moderation here, no one but our two favorite guys would dare venture in and half-assedly try to oppose BB, or you, or U-Mind.Originally posted by kimpossible+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(kimpossible)</div>Thanks. Well, the term avatar originally comes from Hindu, meaning the incarnation of a god. Your avatar is essentially your incarnation on forums and blogs and such. I feel a close tie to Mink, I feel her image can best represent me on DV, I've decided. I was searching for a picture of her that summed up my current feelings, and I found that one, and realized how perfect it was.I like your new avatar. *
