What do you think happens after death?

Answer the question. =P Do you think we go to some sort of afterlife? Or do you believe nothing, like a dreamless sleep that you can't ever wake up from?

I personally think the third is really scary. >.>

If I had to choose, I'd say we would have different choices. We could be reborn into another body. We could go to a nice afterlife. We could go to a bad one. We could go to the dreamless sleep, or we could become our own gods and make our own worlds like other religions say their gods did.

Well shellyboof bishop isn't going to let you over-egg this pudding!

From the Tibetan Book of the Dead, Near Death Experiences, and other sources I have gathered the following.

Initially you have a chance at enlightenment, just follow the light. If you cling, then you enter a dreamworld, where you have to figure out you're dead. From there, you have the opportunity to fulfull all of your unachieved desires, to do anything you want. There are a few pitfalls during this process, one of them is your urges. You can get caught up in realms of pleasure and desire and lose track of what you're doing or why you're here. Another is fear, not everything in your subconscious is pleasant and it could overwhelm you.

After that you meet the spirits that keep the memories of all your past lives and intentions. They're like your spiritual family, and they guide you through the life review where you watch your life, and see all the intended and unintended consequences of your actions and all your fulfilled and unfulfilled opportunities. This can be jarring, as you entered earth with a specific purpose and to see how horribly you failed this purpose can suck. A lot of people don't want to face their failure, so they get snagged at this process and try to recreate the living world. It's true people in Hell don't know where they are. They are clinging to an illusion to avoid the truth, and that's all it is. Sometimes people have to go really, really deep in order to avoid truth.

However after the life review, then you get the options of which path to take, but the best one is to enter the physical dimension again as a human being, so I recommend that if it's available. From there, you can see potential parents and how your entrance will affect their lives and everyone else around you. Usually you see the highest potential good you can do, which sucks because nobody's perfect and it can get you all buttered up just to see how hard you suck after you die. Oh well, forgiving yourself is the key. Just face decisions, be accountable to them.

We don't understand the hard problem of consciousness at all, so I don't think we can give any definite answers yet. Perhaps never.

I think either nothing, reincarnation (based on pseudo mathematical reasoning), or possibly that the aforementioned answers are actually meaningless and human understanding is just not adequate.

It's not surprising. There is, inherently, no evolutionary advantage to understanding death. As soon as you're dead your genes are going nowhere.

soft she stirs on starlit sand,
and clasps wet shore within her hand.
she turns to face the silent seas,
and through her heart, a vital breeze.
she wonders at this strange new land.

I think people confuse what they WISH would happen with what they think ACTUALLY happens. It's really irritating.

I don't really know, nor would I care to. I enjoy not knowing what's coming next. I figure we'll all just cease to exist, but there's a chance that anything could happen.

Something for sure... this existence came from nothing, so theoretically an infinite amount of other existences will as come to be well. I think the real question is, does anyone of this now, carry over into what is next?

Yeah I thin it's very possible, but not for every human being. Every human being, however, has an opportunity right after they die.

No your spirit family IS you, they are the keepers of your memory and your 5th dimensional support group. You judge yourself, there's no one else involved in this process but you.

And reincarnating in this plane is better becaquse it's so hard. It's more significant, the lessons you learn are much greater.

These words carry no meaning when the process by which they are both created and perceived ceases to exist. "You", "I" and "We" are words that create useful yet entirely arbitrary boundaries that are nowhere to be found in any of the hard natural sciences or the actual world. These are illusions. The key to understanding is the atomic principle. Hence no object, whether close or far, is what you perceive it to be. It exists in a persistent stream of matter or information that you are programmed to analyze in a specific manner. But this does not imply truth.

And so everything loses context after you die. Not now and not ever is there any "I" or "You" to be transformed or moved in any way, shape or form.

This is why they say you must die to become alive. You must step away from the alleged sources of reality to find a way other than that of prepackaged analysis, counting bananas like your grandparents. Take one step further back and see that the universe is your rapist.

Everything points to nothing after life, but then there are still so many questions unanswered like, "What would be the point of living if it doesn't even matter after you die?".

Also if nothing happens after life, then where did we come from and where did anything come from because it has to come from somewhere, right? Then wouldn't it be impossible for anything to exist because the thing that made it has to come from somewhere and so on?

Well, our brain is where all of our thoughts and actions come from so it makes a lot of sense that our brain is what creates our consciousness. Also, all religious ideas of afterlife that I have heard of don't make sense. I could tell you how, but that would take a very long time.

What's the point of a rock? I've never heard of a rock that jumped off a building in an attempt to end itself.
What's the point of grass? When you throw a rock in, it gets pushed down.

I take it back, there is no afterlife

Life is not about security, it's about throwing billions of souls onto one stage and watching them degenerate into a panic and violence due to doubt and self loathing. If you want security that there's an afterlife, play Prey.

It is because I think there is a chance that we all don't just go into nothingness when we die.
