Hails,
I was wondering if it was only coincidences but everytime i'm wasted,
it's hard for me to recall my dreams. I used to lucid dream at least once per week,
but now I only had one lucid dream in the past year.
If alcohol is the reason, is there a way for me to be able to at least recall
my dreams besides not drinking?
thank you

Alcohol and marajuana are recall killers. You can always keep a dream journal, tell yourself you'll rememer your dreams before going to sleep, and wake up after REM, but the drinking may override all those things.

Kill the alcohol. Seriously. If you want better dreams, stop drinking so much and so often. If you want to drunk often and in large amounts, be prepared to loose your dreams. It's that simple.

HOWEVER.

I say this with extreme caution, but I've found that one glass of red wine about half an hour before bed kills recall and REM in the first four hours of sleep, resulting in a slight REM rebound for the rest of sleep. Paticularly pronounced when combined with WBTB.

But on the whole: Alcohol is BAD for dreaming, no doubt about it.

Odd, I have incredible recall when I go to bed drunk.

Starry starry night, paint your pallet blue and gray,
Look out on a summers day,
with eyes that know the darkness of my soul.

It's a double-edged sword for me.

If I get drunk A While before going to bed, and it wears off during the night, I get REM rebound and usually have some pretty vivid dreams (though, still, the recall can be a bit hazy.)
If I get hammered and end up passing out within an hour or so, I'm usually down for the count for the rest of the night, and don't remember a damn thing when I wake up.

Alcohol would completely slaughter my recall.
Burns suggestion is the best way to work on recalling dreams.

I am a man. I have nothing to show off. I am just a person withnothingexcept for what I would like to show off, which is nothing.

I myself have the exact opposite experience. I seem to have LD's nearly every night after drinking alcohol. I do however not drink very often, so i dont know if it would help in long term. What happens is that i sleep deep during the first hours of sleep but in the morning i experience alot of vivid dreams and among them lucid ones. It seem especially easy for me to induce SP by wilding after a night of drinking.
I think this is mostly due to rem rebound.
