I remember watching the NFL playoffs on T.V. the night that the Chargers lost their chance at the SuperBowl. After the game, I was walking down the hall to my room when all of a sudden, I was staring at the ceiling It was the scariest thing ever. I didn't remember falling over or anything, all I felt was pain in my elbow from hitting the ground. It took me about 5 seconds to collect myself and get back up, and about 15 minutes to realize I must have passed out. I didn't dream or anything before I came to, but I hear the T.V. playing downstairs the entire experience. I'm not sure where I should put this, so I'll just put it in the General lucid discussion. This isn't the first time I've blacked out but I usually see myself falling right before I black out and hit the ground. This time however, I don't even remember falling or anything. Have any of you ever experienced this before?

Oh yea! I left out an important detail; I remember holding my breath as I was walking to my room to see if I could make it there before breathing. Please don't ask why, I was just bored The other time it happened I just got up was to fast and didn't have enough blood flow to my head and I just passed out.

You might have some condition that causes rapid jumps in blood pressure that in turn cause you to black out...

Sounds pretty likely to me! I feel light headed all the time, and if it's really bad, I hear a high pitched sound in my ears.

Last time it happened I had been lying on the coach for quite long watching TV. As it switched to commercial I rapidly went up to move around a little (I can't stand doing nothing). Everything started to get black, and the balance became crappy. Other than the smashing-the-head-in-the-floor part, I think black outs are nice experiences, as they makes one relaxed.

That's about the only time I have had a major blackout. Usually I will have minor ones, where it gets slightly black and I have enough balance to stand up. But try to be close to the ground - preferably lying down - when your balance gets too crappy; your head won't take as much damage from it then.

i have never been in a situation, where i blacked out and didn't remember blacking out, but 2 times in my life have i lost my vision - everything went totally black. The first time was in a meat store (really disgusting smell) and the second time was in a bus as i was getting home. The best part was that i had to exit the bus while i was blind!
These black-outs don't seem to have much of a connection with blood pressure, but the second time in the bus i had been a bit i'll and feverish that day and the day before.

I had low blood sugar problems and used to black out. There was always a warning for me - my vision would sort of "brown out" first, giving me a chance to ease myself to the ground. I don't ever remember dreaming during the blackouts.

Thankfully, that problem has gone away.

Yeah, they indeed are. I don't have the minor blackouts as much anymore, though. Probably because I have started to eat lots of fruit each day.

I have minor blackouts several times a day, every day. I don't quite know why, it always happens when I've been sitting down and stand up too quick, but there are even times when I've only sat down for a moment and gotten up slowly and still have them.... I find them kind of fun, as I don't totally pass out, I just lose my vision for a minute and my entire body starts to go numb, so I generally find myself running blindly for the nearest object to safely fall on. Fun stuff.

Does the fruit effect it? Well, I rarely eat fruit and when I do it's probably a banana maybe ones a week.

My best black out must have been when I got up from the TV real fast and then past out! It was so cool! I just let my body fall..slowly.. it's a feeling everybody should experience, except for you wimps out there

Though I haven't realy blacked out, I have almost blacked out a few times. I think the problem is that if you get up too quickly, all the blood rushes down from your head, and you don't get oxygen to the brain, so you black out. Also, the holding breath probably didn't help, as you get even less oxygen. You may also have low blood pressure, as I have a friend who blacked out a couple times, and he says it's because he has low blood pressure.

I think it does. Certain fruits have a sugar, that affects the blood (iirc).

I eat at least 4 fruits/daily nowadays.

I agree with you guys, blackouts are fun. Ever since that one time I went out cold, I lie down on the ground when I start to black out. One time at lacrosse practice, it was like 100 degrees out and I couldn't see anything for about 5 minutes and my eyes hurt really bad. Another time I woke up to go to school, I got up really fast and walked to the bathroom. When I went to take a piss, I blacked out and fell in my bathtub and the shower curtain rack fell on top of me

Hah, you guys are lucky. I've always wanted to black out. The only thing that comes close to it for me is when I space out. Well, there was that one time where everything went black for about two seconds, but that was about it.

The same EXACT thing happens to me. Every day, I just get up fast and everything fades out. You know that game you used to play as a kid, where you put your fingers on the side of your eyeballs and apply pressure and everything goes all black? Thats what its like.

The whole blacking out thing is just the blood rushing out of your head. I usually grey out rather than black out. I've only had a full grey out once though, but if you black out easily from standing up quickly just make sure your not near any table ledges. lol.

I think just about everyone gets a little dizzy and sees black from time to time when they get up really fast. An actual black out is where you fall over and don't remember where you are when you open your eyes. I've only had 2 real blackouts where I didn't know where I was.

There you have him! The master of blackouts!
Well, I've only had one mayor blackouts and one LD. To be honest the blackout felt much better thought the LD lasted much longer! But I am certain that my future LD's will be something else!

That's considered fun? wtf. I find the concept of nearly collapsing very unpleasant, and fainting in a bathtub with a shower curtain rack falling on me sounds purely depressing. I enjoy some things that should just hurt, but fainting definitely isn't one of them.

If I get up to quickly, my vision will black and I have to wait 15 seconds or so before my vision clears.

Does anyone get the ears ringing? That's a sure sign for me that I need to lie down before I fall down.

Has anyone else been super scared the minute the wake up from one? The two major times I've had them, I had no idea where I was and it freaked the sh*t outta me.

I once had a major and woke up from it shortly thereafter. Didn't feel too scary to me. And I haven't experienced ear ringing in combination with black outs.
