Or.... you could just read the thread.... or search.... or Google it

Anyway. Since I'm bored. SP is when you are paralysed because your mind is awake but your body has fallen asleep. Your body becomes paralysed every time you fall asleep and start dreaming, with SP your mind is still awake basically by chance, your brain kicked in, just like waking up in the middle of the night, but your body hasn't had a chance to wake up yet.
You hallucinate because your brain is still producing dreaming chemicals (most likely melatonin and DMT). So you're dreaming while awake basically. The only reason this is scary for most people is because they have no idea what the hell is happening. If you know what it is you can turn it happy or sad or scary or whatever you want. Just like a dream.
For thousands of years, human beings had screwed up and and trashed and crapped on this planet, and now history expected me to clean up after everyone.
I have to wash out and flatten my soup cans. And account for every drop of used motor oil. And I have to foot the bill for nuclear waste and buried gasoline tanks and land filled toxic sludge dumped a generation before I was born.

Yeah, I used to be pretty afraid of SP, in fact, I still sort of am. But this thread helps, I guess I should just ignore all the bad things about SP. I've only WILDed, once and I experienced SP for like 2 seconds, all it was was vibrations, so there's nothing to fear.

I want to share this article with you:
      http://www.wikihow.com/Cope-with-Sleep-Paralysis
It offers some good advice on how to prevent SP..
The main thing to remember is to stay calm. Do not fight it, struggle or freak out.. I know it is difficult. I don't like these experiences, either. But, they usually don't last for more than a couple of minutes if you try to stay calm and relaxed.
When you decide to explore your own consciousness... (lucid dreaming is a way to do this).. you most likely are going to have experiences that you do not enjoy. Not all that exists in the subconscious is pleasurable. I do applaud you for your interest in trying. It is a brave venture. I believe that you will find the courage necessary to enter through the gate.
Everyone has to face themselves, eventually.
P.S. don't feel silly. Sharing your vulnerability is something we can all relate too! lol.

The only thing I ever disliked was that feeling that you're falling, but that's just caused by your muscles relaxing as you enter SP. Besides that, I've never really had any problems with it. I've felt like I was spinning, I've felt like I was being pulled at the feet, and other experiences. One of those, "Hey! I didn't know my body could do that!" moments. I've even had an "iron blanket" experience of sorts - it felt like someone was leaning on me.

Its not even just the paralysis. Its the hallucinations that I'm scared of. I don't wanna hallucinate, because I KNOW I won't be able to handle it. I will literally freak out. I just can't handle anything like that!
I don't really plan on trying any WILDS, so does anyone know how common it is to experience SP/hallucinations during regular LD? And what kind of hallucinations will often occur?

I know that if its common, I'm just gonna have to deal with it, because I wanna have LD so badly
What I would do to stop the fear is face it. Try inducing SP, it's not so freaky, really. this one time I laid in bed for a long time and realised that eventually my body was starting to not be able to move and i was going to start dreaming anytime soon because my thoughts were reaching far. It was a pleasant experience

What he said. I got huge auditory hallucinations and it was quite fun! I was dissapointed it only lasted about three seconds at a time.
