      Meditation: Where to begin?

      Hey guys,

I have heard a lot of talk of all of the wonders that come from meditation...
It has got me really interested, so I was wondering...

      1) What will come out of my meditation?
      2) Where should I start?
      3) Will it help my dreams?

      Cheers,

      Calum

It can be used for focusing your intention, but IT is not about gaining anything. It is about seeing the illusions of the ego, but it is also beyond words. So a description is pointless.

Alan Watts is a huge pointer and introduction to Zen Buddhism. And the video also gives insight to the art of meditation.

      1) What will come out of my meditation?
Greater control/knowledge of mind and spirit, relaxation, mild hallucinations, pretty much anything your mind is a big thing to explore, also helps with lucid dreaming
      2) Where should I start?
Start by finsing a quiet place and sit down on a chair and just allow yourself to relax. Feel your body in its relaxed state. Look at the back of your eyelids, or just simply look into nothingness. Over time, you can see all different types of things. You can enter SP, you can enter a state of complete relaxation and tranquility. You can use a mantra or you can just focus on yours senses. There are lots of opportunities, and it's all about what you enjoy doing in this relaxed state. These things are all very generic and open-ended and a more experienced meditation practitioner will be able to tell you more, however, these are the things I like to do. I have only been meditating for about 4 months, but already I have noticed the benefits.
      3) Will it help my dreams?
I see meditating as learning more about your mind. How it works, what you can do to stimulate it, etc. So, yes, this can help in dreams and especially lucid dreaming techniques.

Funny you should ask. There is a mass meditation group that meets online every other week for a guided group meditation.

All kinds of paranormal things take place during these sessions and it will probably blow your mind the first time you try it.

Go to http://stickam.com/reecejones87 on sunday, december 20th at 8:30 pm london time if you can make it. If you miss this next session there are sessions every two weeks so dont worry.

Ill just say that it is very worthwhile for anyone to try it so be there if you can.

There are also some fun guided meditations on youtube that ive had some crazy experiences with.

MANTRA. imo there is nothing more valuable than mantra, the first goal of spiritual meditation is stillness and it is very difficult to quiet your thoughts without mantra.

1)you will get out of anything what you allow yourself to recieve...
2)preparing yourself for a stable meditative schedule because an on/off schedule will barely take effect... and the only place to start anything is at the beginning...
3)if you truely open your mind, it will help every particle of your being...

There are many kinds of meditation. Youre going to have to be more specific.

What do you want to get out of meditation?

If you want it to help you with lucid dreaming them deep relaxation meditation is good. Also, third eye chakra meditation can help with dream clarity.

Get Anna Wise's book The High Performance mind. Meditation isn't hard & it need not take years to enjoy.

I started meditation b/c I was having anxiety attacks. Now I now longer experience anxiety attacks & I am in control of my mind & body.

Now my meditation is a source of great benefit. I purposely use some meditations that elicit pain so that I learn how to focus under pressure. I love it. I also use meditations that are sitting & lying down too.

when your meditations find you and they will if you remain still, hehehe, safe guard them against laziness, agitation, self-distraction & forgetfulness with persistence, self love, joy & desire.

What would meditation be w/o desire? Meditation is the art of intent, manifestation & altered awareness. When we take control of our minds there is nothing that we can't do.

      Happy Trails

Great video. I just watched the whole thing. It explained so much about meditation that I was confused about. I think I understand it now.

As for what results I get when I meditate from time to time (even though as the video says, it's not for results), I notice that after a successful session, I feel lifted out of depression and anxiety, like I'm totally normal again, fixed. It doesn't last long though, which means I should definitely meditate deeper and more often. I also trigger lucidity at nighttime sometimes, after a session of meditation.

According to the yogis, true happiness, liberation and enlightenment comes from union with the divine consciousness known as Brahman, or with Atman, the transcendent Self. The various yoga practices are a methodology for reaching that goal.
In hatha yoga, for example, postures and breathing exercises help purify the mind, body and spirit so the yogi can attain union.

Pranayama breathing exercises help clear the nadis, or channels, that carry prana the universal life force, allowing prana to flow freely. When the channels are clear and the last block at the base of the spine has been opened, Kundalini rises through the spine, through the central channel called the sushumna-nadi, and joins the crown chakra. According to the tradition, the release of Kundalini leads to enlightenment and union.

      Hello Friends........

#Set aside a time for meditating. The best times are very early in the morning and before going to bed. Start by practicing meditation at least once a day and work up to your desired schedule. Find a comfortable, quiet place to meditate. Turn off the telephone ringer and make sure visitors know that you cannot be disturbed during this time.

#Familiarize yourself with meditation directions and techniques.

#Sit or lie on a comfortable chair, mat or blanket. Try to face a north or east position when meditating.

      Thanks
