Paralysis during sleep, but I don't think its sleep paralysis?

This morning as I was falling asleep I had an urge to open my eyes, I could barely open them didn't see much out of them because they were only half open, I tried to move but I couldn't move anything, I could wiggle my toes and fingers and my eyes, I did that to get out of this. I don't know if this is sleep paralysis or not, I didn't hear any strange noises or anything, I didn't hallucinate either, I just was paralyzed and that was it. Any explanations?

Edit: I also remember everything was very numb afterward.

I think you woke up about 3 quarters of the way in sp.
      But not fully.
I don't know for sure, Because I don't know much about sp.

      That was definitely SP.

I started getting SP about 5 years ago and it was exactly what you described. I would wake up, barely able to open my eyes, not able to move and when I snapped out of it I would feel groggy, numb and sometimes would get a headache. I too never experienced any hallucinations until I joined DV and really began my WILD "training". I still don't experience major hallucinations; SP can occur very different for people. However, I do notice that the hallucinations get stronger when I don't try to fight SP. So next time, instead of wiggling your toes to get out of it, go with it and concentrate on entering a dream, remember that any and all hallucinations yoiu may experience are not real. Good luck

You do not always hallucinate while you are in SP. You only sometimes hallucinate while in SP.

      This sounds like textbook SP.

Really? That was sleep paralysis? That's not as bad as people say it is.

Yup. SP is a very confusing issue (with a lot of misconceptions) for people unfamiliar with it. Like I said, I had SP naturally for nearly 5 years, with out any hallucinations. They only began once I started using SP to WILD. Keep at it and let us know how it goes

So, so true. This is why I prefer for the hallucination aspect to be incredibly downplayed to the newbies, and for all the facts about SP to be out there and not misrepresented! Anyway, good to hear that it wasn't scary for you Tristan
