This sounds something like what I do. I'll after suggesting to myself to have a dream and then ot wake up when I do. I'll go for one week waking up at exactly 3:20 every morning. The dreams I do have will be very vivid after I wake.
This is where I started to lay still and concentrate on hte dream I just had and will fall back to sleep and have the same dream again. There by making it even more vivid. You could possibly use this to become lucid in the second round of dreaming.
