      Time Goes By In Minutes

I find that recently when trying to do WBTB time goes by in minutes.
I'll wake up at 5AM, close my eyes, get comfy and start telling myself "I am asleep". I often forget about it quickly though and then I'll open my eyes disappointed and turn around only to find hours have gone by but it feels as if I was sitting there for minutes.

      Why is this?

Some people report that they can go directly into a dream post falling asleep which isn't true.

You have to go through all the other stages of sleep before REM which your mind is very very seldom aware of. Even for power nappers who only nap for 30mins to get a good REM period, they still take up about 5mins. of going through the other stages even if they feel like they dream right away.

With your case, you may have went through the whole cycle with little to no awareness.

Maybe this could have been the case? I hope this helps.

It does help a little. It hasn't happened to me recently.
