      anti depressants and dreaming

      Hello,

      My doctor just upd my dose of an anti depressant to 40mg....every since I have started I have had crazy dreams and many lucid ones... has anyone else gone through this?

      Yes. But it tends, in my experience, to subside greatly after you're on the med for a while.
      Sleep disturbances and unusual dreams are a very common side effect. Ask your doctor if it would be okay to take it earlier in the day as that seems to help some people a lot (if you want to end the dreaming experiences).
      Going off meds will cause the same effect, interestingly enough. I guess the brain and our hormones/chemicals etc. need time to adapt.

      If anything, I think my meds for depression have made my dreams more boring and less memorable than they used to be. Then again, most of that may be due to depression affecting all areas of my life, including dreams.
