Help with relaxation, yes. Music can give you a very soothing feeling, which can make it easier to fall asleep. If your talking about helping lucid dreams, I'm not to sure. And I don't think this is a placebo effect.

Oh ya, I was the first reply to the first thread in the first Lucid Aids forum.

Last night I decided to clear my mind and relax while listening to a certain song right before sleep. In one of my dreams I was discussing the band with someone so it could kind of work as a dreamsign possibly.

I've heard others say that music can really help with LDs, but I haven't tried it. I need to, though. IF I do, I will report back with my success.

I think it can help attempting a wild becuase it will relax your body (with the right music anyway) while keeping you mind stimulated. I Can't really be sure though becuase my WILDing ability isn't stable enough for me to say for sure.

As far as entering a DILD I had an idea about this before:
I thought about looping a cd a couple of times before bed, and then doing reality checks constantly through a certain track (probably the most recognizable one). I figure if I can train my mind to RC at this song I would almost certainly hear it at some point in the night - hopefully right before rem. Haven't had a good chance to try it though cause by the time I can put a cd on I'm dead tired and I can't even get through it once to keep doing the RC's at the one track. hmmm, now that I think about it maybe I should just burn a cd with less tracks . .

As waves of plastic fame go out of fashion, You're going out (going out) forever unknown. These waves of plastic fame go out of fashion, You're going out (going out) forever unknown.

From above a rain of ashes descends anathema. I will remain, forever will remain. From below, in my seclusion, look up to the sky to see See paper wings and watch them burn.

I don't know much about Lucid dreaming yet (other than what I've read), but I willing to bet that listening to music while you're asleep could help. I say this because I often listen to music while I sleep. Sometimes the music I am listening to while I'm asleep enters my dreams and I am boggled by the fact that the music is coming out of nowhere. Sometimes I even stop and try to figure out where it's coming from. My guess is that something like this would be a great reminder to do a reality check while you're dreaming!

I wouldn't even consider trying it. I don't know about you, but when I sleep, I must turn into an animal...One time I fell asleep with my headphones on and when I woke up, my cd player was across the room, broken, and the cd had flown out somewhere along the way... I also somehow broke the wire leading to my alarm clock. No, I didn't pull it out the of the clock, I BROKE the wire in the MIDDLE of it. Have you even tried to pull a wire apart? It's very very difficult! One time I woke up holding my CD case too, which I didn't have when I went to sleep.
The world is full of willing people, some willing to work, the rest willing to let them.

Haha, I've also expirienced difficulties while sleeping with headphones on. Especially while sleeping on the top bunk. But it's good to play music from stereo or computer speakers. But I guess that depends on whether or not you have a room mate or someone else in your room who won't appreciate that.

I use sound tracks using the wbtb method, or I can't sleep.

I use my computer to trigger music, tones etc from an alarm program. This takes no effort if you're used to sleeping to music, tones or sounds, autosuggestion etc. I had 3 lucids last week from playing THETA tones.
