How much turkey would I have to eat to get an adequate amount of Tryptophan

Im roasting a turkey right now and I remembered this works with some other supplements.

Turkey is not, in fact, a significant source of tryptophan. It contains it, but the sleepiness caused after eating large amounts of turkey is typically from overeating, and not from the tryptophan. If you easily have nightmares or sleep trouble from overeating or digestive problems, I suggest you not try to induce a tryptophan sleep from eating turkey, or really any other foods. (although turkey is really good)

I just watched a Bullshit on sleep aids. It turns out, you would need to eat about 3 dozen turkeys to get enough tryptophan. Like JET said, the overeating is what does it.

Also, warm milk is the same story. You would need to drink litres of it.

Jet is right. The "Thanksgiving effect" is due to stuffing yourself silly and not due to the tryptophan in turkey. That is a myth. Chicken, beef, tuna and even soybeans all have more tryptophan than turkey.

You can get tryptophan in amino acid blends... I think.
