Thumbs up I can't stress enough how good the saltcube DVD is.

This video is awesome. Buy it. You won't be dissapointed. I've been trying for so long to attain lucidity and then BAM! I get it in the mail yesterday and have my first lucid dream last night, after watching it once! I wouldn't believe it if it hadn't happened to me personally. Now I'm not trying to sell DVD's for saltcube, but seriously this is the first thing that has worked for me, & I've tried just about everything. You could argue that with everythingI was already doing that I was due anyways, but the fact remains that I watch his video once and have my very first lucid that same night. I doubt that it'll work that amazingly well for everybody but it did for me. My Wife says "so, was it worth $20?" & I answer truthfully "it would have been worth $100.. easy!" I know I'm going to watch it over and over again too, I want this stuff burnt into my memory.

Sorry Seeker about posting that link. The more I think about it now I DON'T want to share it... this guy Matt deserves every penny that he has coming to him. I'll just encourage people to buy it instead, it's totally worth it. (IMHO). Besides we'll just be contributing to Vol. 2 anyways.

Interesting, I've seen the excerpts on their site and I was wondering if the whole thing was any good. I did really like the part with the two blackboards, some interesting stuff. I tried to find it on some torrent sites, but it's not there yet.

I did find the 'lucid dreaming kit', some guy who 'guarantees' you will have a lucid dream in one week. The whole kit is just the basics with some audio to play on loop while you're asleep saying that you are dreaming.
He charges 60 USD for it. Ridiculous.

But anyway, you say the saltcube DVD is good. So is there anybody else out there who has some experience with it?
Because if this is as great as it sounds now, I'm willing to pay the 20 USD.

Good post Phydeaux. Yes the video is awesome, and quite reasonable to purchase. At only $20 which also includes shipping, it's one of the best $20 I've spent in a long time. I had to have to pad and pen handy while watching the video to take notes because I learned so much from it. And it is very professional quality. In addition, Matt is a really great guy, and a real asset to the lucid dreaming community.

Phydeaux, did you have an LD using the methods he outlines, or did it occur using other methods, or no particular methods?

Did it instruct you or inspire you?

Wow, Phydeaux, you tried to LD for 12-ish years and you just recently had your first LD, congratulations on that and on your extra-ordinary persistance.

Good question.. it could indeed just have been auto-suggestion. I didn't really try his method to the Nth, I did however sleep on my back, which I never do, and when I thought about it, my last "lucid" experience came when I awoke on my back too. Either way... it's good enough for me.

Yeah, everybody says that.. OMFG! 12 years??!? Here's the whole sordid story. I was kinda on-again off-again for most of it until recently.

By the way, Phydeaux, congratulations! I read the journal entry about it. Enjoy the high, and keep it up.

I have a question about this DVD. Is it all about 'rythm napping'? Or is that just a small part of it.
On the site it seems to me as if that is the speciality. I think it will probably work, but I also think it is not the most desirable way (to wake up that often must be very annoying).

There's a LOT more to it than just that. Teleporting OOBE's are another KEY feature, I think this method will prove the most powerfull of all. Still there's a LOT more than just those two elements.

A whole bunch of "tricks" on understanding exactly how your body and mind communicate, he discusses stuff I've never heard any other experts talk about, very specific "signals" and signs, to understand how your body tells your mind it's time to sleep. And how to fool those systems.

I have been wantng to buy this DVD before, but I was wondering:
I live in The Netherlands and it probably has got to be shipped to me from the US. How much shipping costs would be added to the DVD's price? anyone?

Hmm, so there is a lot more then the rythm napping thing, sounds great. Also I think that this Matt guy is doing a great job. Probably worth just paying for the thing instead of looking around to find a pirated version.

Ska, I've already asked the shipping question on the saltcube site. It's supposed to be free shipping, but I'm not too sure about that considering we live in the Netherlands.
Well, anyway, when I know I'll let you know.

Matt answered your question on the Salt Cube site and said that for now the free shipping is to anywhere in the world.

      Salt cube course book

The site also has a online course book written a couple of years ago. I'm posting cos it doesn't seem to be linked clearly from the front page, but you can find it here: <http://www.saltcube.com/out-of-body/>. In general the site seems to be even less organized than this one .

From the summary of the DVD material on the frontpage it looks like the DVD is based on the course book. I guess thats why the book isn't linked off the main page :-). Looks very good, though its not strictly on-topic as its much more about Out of Body than Lucidity.

Hi Dodobird, I've obtained the video and just watched it, I must say it is very interesting. But I can't say how much like the book it is because I couldn't find the book.
When I used the link to the book I just got the index page of the book (the list with all the topics in the book), when I clicked on a topic I got redirected to a topic on the forum of the site, not to the book itself.
But judging from the topics in the book and on the video, they are pretty much the same.

And Sourcejedi, this actually is on-topic, because the difference between a LD and an OBE is just a matter of definition.
Here's a quote from the Saltcube site about the difference.

"However the real difference between an OBE and a lucid dream is not how crisp your external awareness is but how accurate your self awareness is. What matters is whether you're fully aware of how you got there and if your dream personality matches your physical world personality. If your awareness of yourself is identical to what it is in the physical world, then it's an OBE."

So what he means with OBE is a specific kind of LD.

The techniques he describes for OBE are therefore actually some sort of WILD techniques as they are commonly refered to on this forum.

Although I'm not sure if the rhytm napping technique could be considered a WILD. But it does sound interesting and promising, so I'm definitely gonna try it next weekend.

The first post on the forum topic is the text of the book :-). The author's username is Matt.

Good point. I think its worth mentioning that this course is one of the few treatments of OBE techniques I've seen on the web that wouldn't belong in "Beyond Dreaming" - that gives a good set of techniques without pushing any kind of spirituality or particular new age jargon.

It perhaps goes a little too far in that direction, as it lacks either a developed narrative of personal experience or much of a suggestion of what to do once you're lucid/OOB. Having said that there a fair number of accounts from different people in the book and on the forum.

Its well worth a look, particularly if you've digested most of the lucid-slanted material and are looking for something a bit different.
