I use 2 different types of meditation, depending on what i feel like.
The first one i learnt about through reading about tibetan yoga. It involves concentrating on an object (they mostly use a picture of the tibetan letter A),

Thats a site which describes it quite well.
The other way is one i learnt from a friend, which just involves trying to clear your mind of conscious thought. If a thought occurs, you note it then let it drift away.
Both the techniques feel similar but the latter is better for trying to go to sleep and letting images appear, while the former is better if you want to actively imagine.
