      Uhh...
No offence, but who the hell would want nightmare inducing mp3's?

Why would you want to induce nightmares?

Well I heard someone was putting bad messages in one of those lucid mp3s.
I like the feeling of nightmares, and lucid ones just aren't scary.

It may help you recognise that you are dreaming as nightmares are probably more unbelievable than normal dreams

Then maybe this would be a good way to get LD's?

I've been listening to suggestions as I sleep for longer than a lot of you have been alive, although they were not for lucid dreaming.

When I first started I used 8 track tapes to record the suggestions on. Everyone once in a while one of those 8 tracks would get hung up and produce other weird noises instead of the suggestions it was supposed to. On one occasion the noise being produced sounded like a bunch of Chinese men which caused me to dream that I was being attacked by a bunch of China men with machetes.

Although I would not advise this, if you really want to produce a nightmare type of dream in order to help you become lucid, you could download some weird wav files like screams off of the internet, and then set them go off at certain times using something like the Citrus Alarm clock, which is also a free download off of the internet, in which multiple alarms can be set for it to play your wav file all night long whenever you want it to. Or you could download something more pleasant to listen to which might work just as effectively and be less stressful to you.

As far as an mp3 being out there that would produce nightmares I doubt that there are any as there would probably be very little demand for one, in addition to the liabilities for damage that someone might possibly face if they produced one and someone suffered some kind of trauma from listening to it.

I don't want it to help with lucid dreams, actually I'd prefer not to be lucid in a nightmare. I'd rather have a nightmare than a normal non lucid dream. My dreams are usually boring, my dream self just plays out life like I normally would. Nightmares are exciting, and sometimes they make great stories.

In that case forget about inducing a nightmare and just concentrate on getting into some really theta dream state where more exciting dreams occur than they do in light sleep.

There are several ways to induce a deep theta dream state, some of which are artificial like taking 3 or more 3mg melatonin pills before going to bed, and others which are more natural and probably better for you such as listening to binaural beats or tones while going to sleep, and letting them take you down into a really deep theta state. There are also probably certain foods you can eat before going to bed that will help you go into a deeper state of sleep.

I find it best when listening to tones to have them barely audible so my subconscious can hear them, but so that they don't distract my conscious mind, and set them for about 3mz to go into a deep theta state.

Just don't set the tones too low (below 3mz or delta state) if you have to get up to be somewhere the next morning. I tried setting them at 2mz one night when I was having difficulty getting to sleep, and then got to sleep fast, but almost didn't wake up to go to work the next day, as it took my 4th and final alarm clock, which is an electric clock to wake me up.

To make up files with beats in I use the Professional version of Neuro Programmer II which sells for $60.00, but Brainwave generator can also do this and sells for a lot less, although there is less that can be done with it. There are also one or two free binaural beat programs that a person can download and use to create binaural beats or tones with.

I havn't had a Proper Nightmare for a while but it can help if you watch Zombie Videos on Youtube (Lol). They have quite some good Proof (Spoof) that Zombies exist. It won't get you a Real Nightmate but it will make you Dream about Zombies!

P.S. I have an entry in my Journal about this Dream I had when I watched Zombie Videos

Why would you want to induce nightmares?

I can see why. Why is everybody scared to have Nightmares? I would LOVE to have a nightmare again. Always leaves me quite amazed and with a story to tell.

I've heard that eating something that will give you stomach cramps right before going to bed is supposed to induce nightmares. I have had a hard time trying this with success since my stomach is pretty "fireproof" me being used to eat alot of spicy, hot foods all the time. But I can Imagine how Stomach Cramps during sleep can influence your dreams unpleasantly.

You can also try taking a period of about 30 minutes right before sleep to watch the most gruwesome, gorey and frightening video footage you can find: WarDocumentaries showing intense, violent and disgusting mutilation, decapatation and people being eaten by Lions. I mean REALLY gruwesome. So gruwesome you actually REALLY don't wanna see it; That way this nightmare incubation would be most effective I assume. I still don't know if this type of footage is going to instantly induce nightmares, but I say it defenitely increases the odds.

Although going back to the subliminal thing, I wouldn't want to be cursed with nightmares for the rest of my life

Yes, I would like one too. I want a more exciting dream, also. Maybe dream about the events in 28 days/weeks later.

Man, when I was really young, I had constant nightmares. Even now I get creeped out sometimes going to sleep.

I think my fears were actually HI and other stuff. On many occasions I remember hearing things calling to me and such.
      -
But, if you want nightmares I'd recomend maybe a mixture of ambient, then somewhat jarring sounds. Maybe even enough to wake you up in the night. Just anything that will keep you feeling somewhat paranoid when sleeping. Maybe tapes of creepy breething or anything else to symbolize another, dark, presence in the room.
