- hurting / destroying people / objects
being chased
falling
Highspeed
situation going out of control
other
which dream theme appears the most?
in a study most people dream of either being chased or falling. i would like to know what other situations people most often come across. i am interested because i would like to identify my own dream themes better
if you chose "other" please state what it is.

Oddly, few of my nightmares involve chasing. Once a year they involve chasing, I'd say. Also, I've never dreampt of being pregnant/having a baby (a common dreamsign among my peers).
My nightmares always involve falling, or highspeed crashes. Before, during, or after the crash, I used to wake up... Ill.
Nightmare themes make up only a small percentage of my dreams, which shows that I am unstressed. My normal dreams contain 3rd person scenes of random nature, or task-like dreams.
But this study... I doubt it gives the best representation of common dreamsigns. Normal people only remember deep, thought-provoking dreams and nightmares, not normal dreams. If the study were to be conducted with those in tune with their dreams, I'm sure they'd discover that the most common dream themes by far involve family, friends, or work, coupled with the day's activities.
Abraxas

Maybe more like nightmare themes? Because my non-nightmare dreams can tend to be pretty random stuff, like something out of David Lynch.

So true... My dreams are incredibly normal. I was mentioning some special ones. Actually, now that I think of it, most of my dreams involve my house or my school, involving friends...
I hardly have nightmares at all either

Other.
Most of my dreams are like waking life. Doing normal things. What makes dreams different from waking life is that I meet old classmates or people who don't live where I live anymore. And the occasional distorted objects.
The general topic seems to be social events.

My place
I'd say if I had to pick one situation that occurs most often, it's having to escape. Usually there's someone/something sinister keeping a number of people hostage (sometimes I'm alone, but this is the exception), and I have to find a sneaky way out of there. A huge feeling of relief mixed with confusion follows when I realize that no one caught me leaving or noticed my absence.
So yeah, that's probably my main recurring situation, but typically they're totally random. I have few nightmares, but when I do have them, it's more the mood/atmosphere/emotion that makes them frightening rather than any particular entity.
Hmm...mine are like the total opposite. Instead of highspeed I'll get stuck at going snail pace. This happened all the time when I was little, but it hasn't occurred for years now. And instead of falling I'll get stuck up in the air. :/
"It was a dream! Can you control what you dream about, Hermione?" -HP7-9 Tasks-
I dreamt once of being chased (by a camel seller) and falling as a result (from a cliff, onto the beetle-covered rug of an insect seller). These are definitely not common themes in my case.
Most common theme (very broad, admittedly) is a "mission" where I have to move (sometimes a long way) from one place to another to fetch someone/something, tell someone something, reach a place... They are very rarely static.
Killing threads since 2002
most of the times i dream of my friends or my family.
For the record my usual themes seem to be
- trains
- members of my family
- stairs / lifts etc
- being a child again
- more bloody trains
