A couple of times, I've dreamt the same thing twice. Not a recurring dream, but the dream completes once, and then I dream it again, only with small things changed the second time around. It feels as though it's one consecutive dream.

      Example:
For a reason unbeknownst to me, I was infilatrating a ship. After boarding the ship, I was in a dark, green-lit room, and two people came in. I quickly ducked behind a table. The people talked briefly and then left. Suddenly, I was back outside the ship, entering in. I went into the dark green-lit room, and the two people entered again, so I ducked behind the table. This time, one of them came over to the table and looked around, as though he had spotted something. They both left the room shortly after.

Although it feels as though it's the same dream cycle, I'm wondering if they are seperate, but based on the same plot as each other, hence the similarities.
Has anyone else had this experience? Is it common?
We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true. - Woodrow Wilson

I've had it happen a couple times with slight variations. It's a really weird feeling and when I wake up in the morning I can remember not feeling rested. Kind of like playing a video game over and over, you get frustrated with it, and it drains you.
      I sleep to dream.

If it's only just started recently it could very possibly be related to real life - and events causing you to have feelings of regret, or frustration etc. over a particular event.

Same here, i tend to feel "ive been in this scenario and place before" and it will change, ooonly slighty but there will be somehting different about it
Our dreams are firsthand creations, rather than residues of waking life. We have the capacity for infinite creativity.

I actually get this sort of same thing a lot. During a dream i will feel as if this has happened before and i can remember how it happened before so while im doing what ever it is i adjust or do the same thing you know whatever works. Just the other day i got one where i realized i was dreaming and as soon as i did a internet page popped up said cant responed, then shortlly after three pages popped up one after another like my dream was a computer screen, it just went through those three pages. Then later in the night i had realized i was dreaming again and the same thing with cant responed popped up and then the three pages again, during the dream i was think this is kind of weird so i started pay attation to what was on those pages.

I get this sometimes. What sucks about it is when I get that deja vu feeling in dream it will pester me off and on through the whole thing, me left wondering if I'd actually been in that place before or if I'd only dreamed it. Just nags at the back of my mind constantly.

I get this all the time. I'll know what to do in a dream based on what I did in a previous dream... but I never had the previous dream. I just sort of take it for true and go with it.

So it seems like it's happened to several people, in one form or another.
I wonder what could cause it? I'm not particularly stressed, and the dreams never seem to relate much to real life.

Maybe I'm just lacking in imagination, so my brain loops the dreams to fill up dream time
