      Exclamation Dying

      I've heard this many times from different people, and even though I have no scientific judgement on this- I still believe I'm right when I can say "It's not completely true."

      People have asked me- "Did you know, if you die in your dream then it means you're in a coma?"

      I've thought, so if you have a lucid and you kill yourself, are you in a coma?
      -No. I also do not have much idea on this either, I'd prefer to enjoy my lucid experiences rather than kill myself

      So... Does anyone have any info. on this famous "DYK" I've heard so much about? Is it true?

      Or, has anyone ever died in a dream before and woke up to tell the tale?

      OR... Unlikely, but still, has anyone ever been in a coma at all and dreamt that you died?

      Thanks =]
      Jim.

      I've died in (lucid) dreams several times. I tend to turn into a ghost. So, dreaming of dying doesn't mean you're in a coma, and dying in a dream doesn't kill you in real life (this is actually a common myth).

      I recently(like 2 days ago) had a dream where I died, it was to strange and scary , it was not a nightmare, but when I died I was too scared.

      I was helping a lady (she was a spy or something) get inside a building, but a car was patroling the area, when they (the bad guys) found us, they were going to shoot the girl, so I threw a stone and the guy, who had a black face, and yellow eyes, and he saw me and shot.

      After I heard the sound of the gun, I knew I was in a dream, and I just felt the bullet inside me, and I started to think "Ok Im in a dream, but what if I die in real life too, what if something else happens and what happens in the dream , happens in the real life."

      After thinking too fast, I started to lose vision, and hearing distorted sounds, until I was just seeing black and hearing the AC, I didn't what to open my eyes because I was to cared of what happened or was going to happen.

      I woke up and couldn't go to sleep, cause I was scared, and that day was also weird, I was feeling strange :X

      Thats the closes dream I have had of being killed, not funny -.-

      i die all the time in dreams. it's usually harrowing up until the point i realize i'm dead, and then it's actually quite comfortable. kind of like floating in a big tub of warm happiness. i hope that's what dying while awake is like..

      LOL! Well... I suppose we all go to our own funeral in a way

      (this is actually a common myth).
      I thought it would be, but then I got the idea that maybe when they mean dying, they might mean you actually die in the dream and your conciousness ends and you can't visualise anything anymore... I had this sort of idea in my head.

      Cheers =]

      I search out ways to get killed or kill myself in dreams. It is an interesting way to experience the energetic shift so important in learning about traveling will OB.

      I've died in dreams several times but usually wake up the moment it happens.

      Rarely do I stay sleeping after death, and when I do I'm usually in a world of infinite white.

      Absolutely no depth perception and no sound.

      The version of that I heard was that "if you die in a dream, you'll die in real life." Both are equally BS, as far as I'm concerned. Though I can't really say I remember ever actually dying in a dream.

      I guess it is possible that the fear of dying in a dream could kill you but i think it is pretty conclusive that most people don't die in real life when dying in a dream.

      This is a very interesting topic...

      When I was younger (like 5) I remember specifically one dream where I died. Another one I had my legs ripped off....No idea how this would come to mind at 5 yrs old. So to my knowledge, while there MAY BE a deathdream=coma relationship, there is no deathdream=coma rule.

      Another point of interest would be night terrors. I have never had one, but I know some stuff about them. They activate this one part of your brain like mad, resulting in indescribable fear and panic in the dream. This fear is more than anything you have experienced in waking life (from a medical perspective). I don't believe you could die (in real life) from even this insane fear of, possibly, death (in the dream).
