Thread: Knowing where our dreams take place

Has anyone noticed that they sometimes dream about a place and know exactly where they are for no apparent reason?

Sometimes, I can name the city/area in which I dream, even if I'm in a building, or in an area where no landmarks are present. I just seem to know where I am. Later on, I often figured that this made no sense and that the place I thought I was dreaming in had no ressemblance to its real-world equivalent. It gets even weirder if I dream of a fictitious place, or somewhere on another planet or something... I've always wondered why my brain associates my surroundings which contain very limited information to certain places, or maybe it's the opposite? Anyways, thoughts?
