      Orgasm over intense fear

I just moved this from the interpretation forum (sorry I put ti there by mistake).

I remember having some dreams up until puberty where I would be in a situation that was extremely dangerous (not really a nightmare of sorts, not the kind where the dream goes mental), two I remember were being on a flying bike over molten rock and being in a submarine that suddenly split in two. The danger of it gave me really pleasurable orgasms (and I will confidentley say that's what there were), much better than any I can acheive now in real life. I loved them, but obviously due to the nature of the dream they were hard to make the most of. At the time I had no idea of sex and I could only compare it to "needing the loo so much it felt nice". Thankfully I never tried to see if that would happen in real life .

Has anyone else experienced anything similar... and out of interest do you think I could experience the same thing today in a dream without waking up too quick or having a wet dream?

It is common to have an orgasm and not wake up... but the same can't be said for Lucid Dreams. I can't say I've experienced it out of fear, but for many other reasons.
But, hey, whatever takes fright away is on your side!
In a world where darkness is fear, there's always that light at the end of the tunnel.

An orgasm is actually triggered by the same part of the nervous system that controls the fight or flight response (sympathetic nervous system). The reason is so that if ever you're in danger while having sex, you'll orgasm so you can run. Otherwise in the middle of sex you may not care as much as you should and want to finish what you're doing first ;P

To answer your question, there was a thread about this on the Lucid Experiences board and it seems to vary person to person whether or not you'll actually have a wet dream from a dream orgasm. I myself orgasm irl (I'm a female so its not really a problem ;P) when I have dream sex, but others do not. I guess there is really only one way to find out

Bang on. Do you study evolutionary psychology..?

It is possible to experience these orgasms in real life. However, with great difficulty. Dreams are inclined to illicit the most extremes of emotions. Thus, you would have to have some very stimulating stimuli to get this achievement.

      ..but it's possible.

Wow, is that true?? I never knew that. That's fascinating.

I actually learned that during a very entertaining physiology lecture

I sort of study evolutionary psychology, only not in humans - I specialize in Animal Behavior

So if I was scared shitless in real life I could have an orgasm??? If that's true that's pretty crazy. As far as strength is concerned; could it be just that I orgasmed without previous stimulation, so it makes it seem stronger by comparison? I know from real life that it feels better if I ejaculate WITHOUT edging (I just don't tend to do this in order to avoid premature ejaculation and all that). In most people's accounts though it's the opposite, they get a stronger orgasm with more stimulation. There's that... or there's the fact that I was dreaming, and as we all know things can be acheived in dreams we can only speculate in life. When I got the feeling though remember it wasn't fear+orgasm, it seemed like a completely new thing altogether, and I guess that made it seem more special.

I just looked it up, turns out it's called phobophilia, which actually seeing as I did greek for a year at school a pretty obvious name! Well, I haven't had any phobophilic experiences in waking life, but being a bit of a scientist I'm getting pretty interested in it. I'm definetally doing psychology for A level!

In elementary school, before puberty, I would have what I later learned were orgasms when I would ignore the end of recess bell and take one last swing across the monkey bars. I was very much a "rule follower" so the fear of getting in trouble being late back to class was intense. After it happened once I was tempted to break the rules regularly!

Also, when I was raped with a knife at my throat I almost had an orgasm and was very confused and ashamed for many years, because I certainly was NOT sexually stimulated, I feared for my life, so I could not figure out the physical response. What a relief to find out what it was.

As far as dreams go, I occasionally have dreams where I have intense fear, but unfortunately rather than waking up in orgasm, all I get is a hot running sensation down the backs of my legs. Darn.

Hehe, no, you wouldn't get an orgasm, you would get an adrenaline rush. The feeling of an andrenaline is just as incredible as an orgasm though. During an adrenaline rush, you can gain so much strength, that you can lift 500 kilo, for a very short amount of time. You become a superhuman. The problem though, is that your bones might break, during this heavy lifting/punching/running. I've had a light rush once, and I felt like I could punch a door down, without caring

No wonder I have so many sexy dreams where I'm afraid at the same time!
