Thread: How To Face Any Fear At Night

Yea i have heard about this. Have you done it yourself? I have paused my efforts to gain better lucidity in dreams because I no that as soon as I gain complete control I will imagine all this really freaky stuff to happen, I can't help but think about the worst possible things that could happen, because I no they WILL if I THINK them...

Its kindof a trap...

So how do I face a fearful thing that isnt a beast or figure, eg. wouldn't it be freaky if you saw angry ghosts in the mirror all the time just because you thought of it?

I just thought i'd post this here cause it didnt seem like u were asking a question and your post just sortof reminded me about this...

If that example would be the case, you could face the fear by simple standing at the mirror and facing it, without running away from it.

That's one of my problems also, If I imagine something happening or fear it will, it usually does happen. Just remind yourself while awake (imagine it happening so it transfers into your thoughts while asleep) and asleep that it really is all in your mind. Maybe just relax into it instead of resisting it, that might work, I'm not sure, but just remember, they are your thoughts, just as you brought them, you can usually bring them away. I guess just don't yell at them, just like when arguing with people this escalates, so just bring your tone down when speaking and hand gestures, i hope this works...

This is one of the things I love about lucid dreaming - the chance to face your fears, and overcome them.

Just remember, Kcalypso, that it really is just your imagination in your dreams. Everything you see is created by your mind. So if your mind is creating those angry ghosts, it can just as easily make them vanish. Don't be afraid of them, because they don't really exist. Nothing in a dream really exists. It's just a figment of your imagination, it can never ever hurt you.

Thanks guys, this morning i had my first really vivid lucid dream, i sortof woke up, went back to sleep and did an accidental wild which was awsum lol... but yea there was this monster or sumthing and i just remebered that I was invincible and smacked him in the head and he dissapeared, and now i love the idea of lucid dreaming it doesnt scare me at all!

I hadnt had a decent lucid dream before and now I understand how easy it is to overcome these fears... So if anyone else is worried, just remember that your invincible in your dream! In your own mind you are god!

well I havent faced all of my fears, but I sooorta faced my fear of the dark. I never liked total darkness.

total darkness kept showing up in my dreams as nightmares, until I found a way to beat the darkness. a lot of times I was so scared, I lost lucidity, lost control and it was like the dream ate me. its a real bummer when your fear of something gets in the way of a lucid dream! so the next time my dream was being attacked my darkness, I did my best to keep my cool, reminding myself its just a dream. but I let the dream turn off the lights.

this time, since I didnt freak out though, something strange happened. the dream characters in my dream, who were supposed to be friends and family lit some candles. it was genius really becuase in all of my darkness-nightmares, the demon could only control electrical appliances, namely my light switches. brilliant!

a couple of months ago, I was at the house alone, taking a shower. the power goes out on the entire complex. I had shampoo in my hair and all! it was surreal, since the bathroom has no window, it just went pitch black. it was so sudden I had to grasp some sense of reality with the water still running, I thought maybe I was alseep. Instead of running out the bathroom screaming *which my whole family still thinks I did! they dont believe me that I kept my cool!* I turned off the water, felt my way around for the towel, and made my way to the next bathroom with a window for some light to condition my hair.

the funny thing was later that day me and my sisters went to see a horror me. it was really the most horrific movie anyone in my family has seen, I wasnt phased the least!!! I watched the whole movie without closing my eyes or anything *I coudlnt see the entire ending half of grudge prior!!!* My sisters thought there was something wrong with me.
