      my other world

I am new to this site. I came to hear about other's dreams as well as share my own. I don't know anyone else that experiences dreams like I do.
I have a recurring land....city/countryside/mountains/harbor and I mean it has everything!
It is elaborate, including all aspects of life, climate, adventures.......usually driving, travelling by train, plane, car... in school classrooms, malls, restaurants, airports, other countries.......and I've been going there for years.....I know my way around all the roads, beaches, neighborhoods.....I've experienced wars, aliens......well I can't think of anything I have not experienced there...
I am 52 years old and have also had some lucid dreams but not as often as I'd like. I have excellent recall and can remember dreams I had in childhood....
Lately I've been stuck in revisiting the same area of my dream universe. The city....and the confusing transit system.....sometimes I can navigate and sometimes I get lost.....None the less it is still fascinating and at times breathtaking.
My visits can be both happy and scary.....depending on my mental state. When I am most stressed I have what I call my "dirty bathroom" dreams where I can not find clean stall.....I enter a huge maze that is stall after stall and can't find any privacy even if I do find clean toilet....eeek...
My goal is to be able to go to my alternative world more often and have good experiences....Flying over the tree tops at night is the best......I'd like to hear if others have this same experience...

I cant totally relate, but I have been having the same dream almost everynight for about half a year now. I know how that can be, but I know why I have my dream.

I guess you can say I am a really paranormal type of person and like to give the paranormal side of things . Please forgive me if you don't believe in this type of tuff, I apoogize for my reply But maybe you had a past life in some type of place like this, in another world. And it still enters your mind all the time. Or maybe you leave your body at night to travel and live in another city. I know this sounds extremely bizzare and, again, I apologize. Maybe when you become stressed, your mind has found a way to escape, and it expresses it self in that way. I personally like to consider all the types of possibilities. Sorry if it wasn't helpful.

First, I appreciate your reply.....and I have never had a recurring dream as frequently as you are experiencing.....Do you try to modify it?
I like the concept that I may be leaving my body and traveling to another world because that is exactly how it feels.........
About 6 months ago I dreamed a beautiful european city with homes built high up on a rock ridge along a narrow cobbled street with a calm harbor below....It was so comforting and I wanted to stay.....a week later I watched a travel show that featured that exact place, an ancient city where the Romans milled salt......needless to say I was stunned.
I used to keep a dream diary and I think I will start that again so that I have more control........

Wow, You should definately keep a dream journal. I have dreams sometimes where I picture a scene, and then I forget about the dream. Then in reality, when I see the same scene , I remember my dream. It is quite stunning.

As for my dreams, I don't modify them, they modify themselves. Everynight it's a different aspect. I recently moved, so typically I have the dream of going back home. It becomes annoying to wake up every morning happy, only to be deflated by realizing it was just a dream. = /

Again, when I become a little too stressed, I do what I think is astral projection. I leave my body at night and just go travel in who knows where. It actually is quite scary, unless I can control where I go, then it becomes pleasent. A good-get away I think it is exceptionally amazing what you can do.
