MSNBC publishes an article claiming users of RIM, Linux, & Apple products are "jerks"
5 of the 7 items are in direct competition with MS's own products
Blackberry - direct competitor with Windows mobile products
TiVo - Highly popular Linux running DVR (competes with MS's media center software)
Macbook Air - you don't need an explanation....
iPod - again, Apple product (way better sales than MS's Zune)
Linux - you don't need an explanation....

Yay! I'm only guilty of Linux.
I have a Blackberry (without a data plan so no internet/email) and two Bluetooths (hey, it came with the Blackberry and my brother's, I don't use them), an iPod with a case (is that considered an accessory?), "TiVo" (actually Dish Network, but you can record shows so it's similar).
"Moreover, is it the headphones themselves or the iPod owners who ensure that one headphone bud is always dangling outside of its intended ear?"
That one is pretty self explanitory I thought. It is nice to be able to hear people talk while still having some music in the background.

Exactly. I suppose the author is adept at walking through public places with both hands over his ears - completely deaf to the outside world - because that's effectively what it's like with both ear buds in.
Though I always tuck my unused bud into the collar of my shirt, so it looks less awkward than when it's dangling freely down my chest.
And good call indeed, Tony.![]()

I personally hate it when people decide to start texting while I'm trying to talk to them. I just wanna slap that phone right out of their hand and say, "didn't your father beat some manners into you?"
I'm not guilty of any of those 7 things.

I ride my segway everywhere. I don't care what msnbc says. D:
Woah, I must be really cool then. Not guilty of any of it.
But I think segways are cool ... so hmm

I sure hope that guy didn't make it through journalism school... That's bad even for satire.
Don't forget to add espresso machines to the list. I mean, isn't regular coffee good enough for the common man? Latte-drinkers are jerks!... Mocha drinkers a little less so.

"If there was one thing the lucid dreaming ninja writer could not stand, it was used car salesmen."
This guy is terrible.
I looked up the name of the article's writer on google and this popped up:
Google vs. Microsoft
So, how much is microsoft paying you? XD
Click his name and look at his other articles... I only clicked on 1 other and it attacked digg for 1 single event and the fact that the consumers are apparent idiots. I gave up on his credibility for good after that XD

The only one I'm guilty of is having one earbud not in my ear, but that's mainly so I can hear (it's actually an MP3 phone, which doesn't even work properly due to the grime from a can of tea on the memory card contacts, I really ought to see about getting that fixed).
I'm not guilty of any of this, but mostly because of a lack of funds. Waaant super-portable laptop... and the Tivo would be useful, but not so much as certain other DVRs, and anyway, it is just a glorified VCR. Only that useful because it can tape multiple things at once, and VHS tapes are getting more difficult to find for older recorders.
And how is Linux a gadget? I contest that definition!

You do look like a douche, but people put the iPod connector tube all the way up so you can still hear the track and listen to someone. If you only have one in, you typically just hear half of the music.

I can't stop laughing at the picture of the guy on the intro page. I found the whole thing funny, but didn't notice that it was targeted against MS competitors. That was very sneaky of them / blind of me.

I think this guy does a great job of looking like a jerk all on his own. No gadgets needed.![]()
Slicked back hair+energetic expression+suit=jerk? Why would you say that?

While the MS competitor thing is awfully convenient, it's easy for that aspect to slip by, because it seems that in the gadget industry, the MS competitors tend to do way better than MS. iPod is doing a lot better than zune. iPhone is doing a lot better than MS smart phones. I don't own a "smart phone" or whatever the generic term is, but if I went for one, it'd be between a crackberry or an android-enabled one (once I get more confident of their security, etc.) And while I would probably not spend money on an ipod (though the new one with the video games looks real cool), I also wouldn't waste money on a zune when I have my small, USB mp3 player, which is all I need.
