Looking for good open source video editor

Hello, I am looking for a good open source video editor. Right now I am using Windows Movie Maker, and there's no way I could afford one right now. Does anyone know of a good open source video editor like Adobe that has cool effects and that you can make cool intros with like some people on YouTube have? I did a Google search, but none of the programs I've found sound like what I'm looking for.

      Thank you!

I actually did download that one before, but found it confusing to use and it kept freezing. Hmm, maybe I should give it a whirl again. I appreciate the suggestion though!

I should also note that I have a Windows XP.

Does it have to be open source? Or do you mean just free? Open source means that the source code is available, freeware means that you can't get the source code, but it's free to download and use.

For Windows I think that VideoSpin is the best right now. It's free, but not open source.

Oh I meant just free in general. Thanks, VideoSpin looks interesting, I'll try it out!

Take a look here and see if you find anything helpful. I stumbled across this last night: Video Editing: 30 Free Tools and Web Services To Get Things Done
