Hey you wanker, that's my avatar.
Besides the point, pull it out and check to see if it got seized, disconnected, etc.. most likely you'll need to replace it, but can't hurt to try to spin it back up again. Usually they go when the bearings go, starts getting loud, then seizes (or burns out the motor).

How did your fan blow out? was the computer on?
If your computer was on with no CPU fan you better hope to god that your chip isn't fried.
depends on the chip i suppose, amd64's usually don't get too hot, nor do non-netburst Intel procs. They can handle passive cooling (my P3 dump server is passively cooled).
And anyways, if its a halfway decent proc/mobo, the system won't run if it gets too hot heh

Ill change my avatar when I get a pic that will work

just buy a new processer fan. there really easy to replace. just remove the four screws holding the fan to the heatsink then unplug its power cable. take it to a computer shop or a place like bestbuy. then four screws back into the heat sink and connect the power. use a screw driver not a drill![]()
thanks for all the help!!!
