Why does every movie have charecters firing 7+ rounds out of a 6-shooter without reloading?

Due to having family members in the army, and being around gun-obsessed friends for years, I have a vast knowledge of firearms, especially military firearms from the last 100 years or so. Calibers, energy, damage, range, accuracy, whatever. Even accessories, magazine capacity, one gun versus another.
So, whatever you want to know (even just to test me for fun) ask me here!

Well, technically, revolvers can hold between 4 (5?) and 8 rounds. However, movie directors tend to ignore details like that that upset us gun nuts. For the most part, they probably load up when the camera is off of them (assuming the whole scene isn't shot at once), or else they have mini charges inside the gun that fire, but aren't attached to the actual.... slots where you load the shells.
My other gripe is people firing pistols or rifles (especially automatics) and even shotguns with one hand.

What exactly is a "receiver", i never understood what it was but everyone talks about them.
Ol' Ironsides

I don't know the exact definition for a receiver.
However, I do know that rifles (maybe pistols too?) have an upper and lower receiver. The lower receiver is generally the grip and trigger assembly, and remains the same. However, the upper receiver includes the magazine well and the barrel. Therefore, by swapping out the upper receiver, you can change the bullet size relatively easily. For example, the 5.56mm M4 can switch to a .50 caliber "Beowulf" simply by pulling out two pins, putting on a new receiver, and replacing the two pins.

cool, what do the pins look like?
Ol' Ironsides

*ahem* predecessor to the ak-47, made by the germans in ww2? ( this is trivia)

Sturmgeweher-44. Chambered in an intermediate (7.92mm?) round, it was the first mid-range assault rifle that had the power of a rifle round, yet the firing rate of a submachine gun.
Also, the name means "storm rifle" or sometimes translated as "assault rifle"

hey! awesome um that's the only one i can think of off the top of my head

name of soon to be developed automatic shotgun for the military?
Is there any weapon that shots through any solid wall (including all types of bullet proof), or is near from this?

Oniman i'm going to PM you about this but if you wouldn't mind, i'd like your opinion on some weapons.... no i'm not stocking up for a revolution or robbing anyone or doing anything wrong for anyone who reads this...

I'd have to guess something along the lines of the AA-12. Not really much for shotguns.
Awakening, there are guns (and bullets) developed for firing through walls.
For example, the Heckler and Koch MP7 fires a full Metal Jacketed 4.6 X 30 mm round, which (if I recall) can penetrate something like 20 layers of titanium, and an inch of wood after that (correct me if I'm wrong, but it is something along those lines)
Most military rounds with a metal core or Full Metal jacket will penetrate a lot of things.
Now, talking specifically about bullet proof glass, it's dicey. From what I hear, only a .22, and *maybe* up to a 9mm would be stopped by commercial "bullet proof glass". However, military bullet proof glass is designed so that it bends and stretches, instead of breaking. These will stop rifle rounds, and possibly a .308. I watched test footage a while ago, but don't remember too much about it.
And Memento, got your PM. Working on it now.

What are the benefits or disadvantages of choosing a polymer pistol over a steel frame? Say for example if one were comparing an M9 or 92FS to a Springfield XD(M) or standard XD .40 other than the obvious size and caliber difference? What are some circumstances in which a polymer would be better than a steel frame or vice versa?

Well, if I remember correctly, the polymer is used to be a lightweight substance, while still being sturdy. In fact, I believe that the G36C, along with others, are comprised mainly of polymer for the purpose of being light.
Other than that, not much of a clue.
