If you can do it, do it. Easy money. (or is it?)
Okay, so tonight when we went to a Christmas party that my uncle was throwing, tons of people were there, and a gay couple was staring at my pants from across the room while clearly talking about them. As I came near them in order to get to the food, they said they loved my outfit and that I was really pretty. Then they asked me if I had done any modeling. I told them that years ago, my mom and I looked into the local Modeling agency here in SLC, and we couldn't at the time because I was too young, so we just dropped it. They said I totally should do it now. This isn't the first time that some random strangers or schoolmates have told me that I should do modeling.
Now, while I'm just about to start classes at my online animation school, I know that I need to find a job to pay for the student loan fees, among other things. From experience, I don't want to work at a very small company doing entry-level grunt work anymore, and I don't want to bag up groceries or do any retail or customer service (I'm a little too shy). I think those things would get to me.
Modeling as a temporary part-time or full-time job has always been in the back of my mind, but now I'm really considering it, possibly going back to that same agency that I went to before. As for my schooling, which I'm dead serious about, I need to devote around 20-40 hours per week (the lower end at first), to get the best education out of it, so I wonder if this kind of idea could work out.
I really don't want to go national into modeling, just some local work to pay the bills. I think it would be fun. My older half-brother did modeling jobs with that agency a while ago, but stopped because he wasn't into it and he thought it would make him gay.
What do you guys think? Anybody know a thing or two about trying to do local modeling?

Deery you should be a model so I can buy the calendars.![]()
I've never seen anyone make easy money from modeling. I've had lots of friends/family members who have tried though. Not recommended.
Can you explain more about the cons of it, Nina? What have your friends and family members experienced about it in particular?

I know one of my friends says it's easy money. She got $2000 dollars for one days 'work'. I think that was for K-Mart/Walmart.
For thousands of years, human beings had screwed up and and trashed and crapped on this planet, and now history expected me to clean up after everyone.
I have to wash out and flatten my soup cans. And account for every drop of used motor oil. And I have to foot the bill for nuclear waste and buried gasoline tanks and land filled toxic sludge dumped a generation before I was born.
My ex used to make a lot of money doing this on the side. Usually about £200 a shoot. Although these were usually half/all day shoots, and very tiring.
I am not an expert, but I suspect the hardest part is finding a job. Which depends on your local area a lot. Since you know a reputable agency, you been there before, its been around for years, you know someone else who worked with them, chances are there is probably decent work in the area and they know what they are doing.
Since you know the agency, your brother did some work from them, I am sure you can get in there and talk to some one. They can probably answer most of your questions.
Oh sorry, forgot to say - never go through an agency for it, go free lance and get the work yourself!! Use a forum like net-model or something like that, at least then you keep all the money you make![]()

I am a member of a talent agency. I got asked to a modeling job on CTV. I didn't get paid though, as it was only volunteer stuff to put on my resume. It was quite an experience. Since it was on live TV, there was no room for mistakes. As it was my first time on live TV, I had to pay close attention to the other models there. You learn quickly what you are supposed to do.
If you get the opportunity to model, I suggest you do it. It was a great experience for me, and it would be for you too.
A friend of mine has been trying to do it. He's done more nude shoots for old men than actual work.

I'm tempted to say the only modellish thing about you is that you have short blonde hair like Agyness Deyn. I mean I just don't see anything else going for you. But that said I'm no expert, so don't take me fully seriously.
Butttttt I have a few model friends, and basically it's hard to get into. Also, there's alot of shady stuff. So be-ware if you're serious. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Considering the models I do know I really should be more up on this stuff.
