According to my mate who went to Paris, the public transport is excellently organized, frequent and extremely cheap.

I have family visiting Europe soon. I'm looking for advice about how to get about safely and quickly in London and Paris.

Yeah, in Paris you basicalls only use the Metro, which is an underground
tube system that gets you fairly fast from A to B, although you might want
to get familiar with it a little before. You might have to transfer several times,
depending where you go. Sometimes it's easier to walk one or two stations
and then get in to have a direct line. I'd recommend that anyway, since
Paris is a beautiful city to walk through with a lot to see everywhere.

In London you can mainly use the Underground, busses or the tram. I'm
sure there are a bunch of people here, who can explain this better than me,
it's been a while since I've benn there. But the busses are fun (you know,
those big, red ones :-) ).
Gettin around in Europe, especially the major cities, is never a problem.
