I suppose it depends on what drug you are talking about. However, I've always held the belief that no one addicted to drugs like coke, heroin, etc. should be subject to prison; they don't need jail, they need help.

Tell me what happened to Prohibition possession charged criminals when the law was repealed
What happened when they repealed prohibition? Did they let the guys out? What about people who stole things to pay for alchohol? And how do you think things would go if they repealed the laws against even one drug today? Would the criminals be worse coming out than going in? Because really, you don't have to be a violent person to get weed, since it mellows the people out. But yea, just what are your opinions?

yea, really is dumb. But I think with a true addiction you can plead insanity. Just possession/pushing gets you jail I think. Plus, you can only be mentally addicted to pot.
