UPDATE:- Finished the points
Look what I did
Since we can't use the other one because of copyright I made my own.
Any suggestions would be great.
Department Leader: Department leader's are supervisors of a certain department. They make sure work is being done and they have the authority to tweak, organize, call meetings etc. Staff may consult their department leader and department leader's may consult the Project Leader. Department leader's can hire additional staff members for their department at their discretion. Department leader's, if a staff member is not staying on task or doing what you are asking him/her for the benefit of the department (and ultimately the project) you can recommend them for termination to the Project Leader. Once again, I encourage Department leader's to hire more staff for their departments. To personally hire a new staff member, have them fill out an application and within that application in the additional comments section, have they say that you personally hired them. This forum is for DV's Picasso's. Your job is to make sure the writer's needs for pictures for their pages are taken care of. Originality is the name of the game. The writer must explain in-depth what s/he is trying to relay in the picture that the writer is wanting the designer to create. Writers, be as specific as possible. You may also take the initiative to start creating "original" pictures that you think will be useful for the writer's and organizer's to add to the book. You will also be in charge of designing a cover for the book![]()
The author of this post wrote this cognizant of the fact that staff members work in more than one department.

Reality check.
You don't have to use these images by the way. I had nothing to do, so I thought it would be fun to make them.![]()
Great mrdeano!! These will definitely be used in the book! Kudos to early initiative![]()

I thought we could use this to help describe how dreams are built up.
Dream are built through perception and expectations.
Even though the image above is a set of random shapes, our expectations and perception tells us its a cat.
This is the same way dreams are built. For example, if in a dream you are stood in a hospital. Expectation tells you that there will be patients walking around. So now your stood in a hospital full of patients... ect
If you want me to make another image then I will be happy to. A cat was the first thing that came to mind.
EDIT - Ohh
Am I right in thinking that in order to perceive or expect something we need Schemas in place?
EDIT - ooh thanks Jeff![]()

That's great deano. And the brief explanation regarding the pictures will help our writers alot as well.

This is not finished.
I found it really hard to draw handsI had to find like a dozen reference pictures.
Anyway, I was still working on it.
These will DEFINITELY come in handy deano

Spoiler for Minor Updates:

Just showing some of the progress I am making with these pictures. Here is a flying pig.

These are great, Deano! 8D
And yes, I can see the white circle.
Bollocks.
Deano's brilliant. I can see the white oval it as well![]()
Very nice. I like the perception pic. We should do some more of them. I have an interesting idea if anyone is willing to do this. ...if i can find it. Well I'll let you know, its very interesting in the form of perception. One picture forming into something very unique and different.
How many people have flying pigs in their dreams?
Just wondering of course, very nice mrdeano

Mkay, I was going to wait til some of the writing department contacted me so we know what exactly is going in the book, and what we need to create. If anyone has ideas for special stuff, extras, or just wants to get their art out, feel free. Tuus volat propriis. You fly on your own wings.

hey everyone, here for a job! got any illustrations ya' need?
Graphics department, we need a picture to go along with the intro, - read our (rough draft version) intro and come up with a picture that could go along with it. We will be removing the picture already in place.

DDK, please make sure that a PM is sent to all of your staff members (which can be a direct quote of this post if you want) so that they will not miss this post and thus get started now.
We would like this done ASAP.
Thanks![]()

Before I go a head with this, I need to know if the book is going to be in black & white or in colour.
Remembering that printing in colour is more expensive because it requires different paper and more ink to do so.
So I think if everyone else agrees. All graphics from now on should be in black & white.
I don't care if some of the graphics team moan about this. The value of this book is one of the most important thing. Members will not buy if it costs too much.
Excellent question mrdeano. I have not given it much thought, (seeing as I was leaving creative control regarding images as a whole to the graphics department itself) but black and white is much more feasible in terms of cost than colored images within the book (with the exception of the book cover itself).

hey everyone, here is a rough sketch of my idea for the chapter header illustration for the introduction. don't panic, it's just a sketch, not representative of the final version. the background, behind the window, is supposed to be clouds but the photo i used was bad so it will be more clear in the final. it's really loose in the sketch and will be cleaned up for the final, although i want to use charcoal, so there will be a primitive feel to the linework. the there will be no border edges for the illustration either, creating a floaty kind of effect.
besides that all i want to do otherwise is add some sunbeam effects, or shadow cast by the girl and the window by the overhead light.

yeah jeff mentioned it looked a little ghost-ish. i'm going to make sure that the figure has more of a solid feel in the final version. thanks for the critique!![]()
