Thread: Questions or comments about the gallery

Are we supposed to wait for approval, after putting a dream in the submissions thread? before posting it in the Gallery?

I guess I need to add the link. Hmm I haven't tried adding links yet. Another thing to figure out lol. I'm sure it's a simple thing to do.

I am just now getting around to looking in here!

+Gallery entries can be submitted on the first day of the following month in which the dreams were had, but not after the final day of that following month.
(Example: Dreams for November can be submitted on or after December 1st)

So, are we supposed to be posting Nov dreams now, since it is still Dec? And then wait til Jan to post Dec dreams? It doesn't seem like people are doing that, so I am probably mixed up.

Wow. I didn't even know you had replied in here, Caradon. But I've talked to you in pm about it, and it looks like you've gotten it figured out.

That's, initially, the idea. I think it would run a little more smoothly, that way, but I wonder if it actually makes it more complicated than it should be? Hmm. I'm kinda torn on that one. As of now, I'm going to make sure that all future entries are posted during the following month, but if anyone would like to offer their own opinion on that, let me know and we can discuss it.

But yeah, to answer your question; Yes. December dreams should be posted, beginning January 1st. You can go ahead and log them in your "Submissions" thread, but don't post them into the Gallery until then.

That plan sounds good to me. I was planning to post November dreams. But, since I got it worked out so late in the month, I decided to just go with December dreams. Next time I'll wait for the first of the month to post them in the gallery.

Ok. I'm adding to the "rules" stickie to tell those people, who are posting in the gallery for the first time, to contact dream guides first. That way they can make sure everyone knows the format before beginning to post in there. That should help to eliminate some of the confusion.

Come on, people. SUPPORT YOUR FELLOW DREAMERS!!! Some of these entries have hundreds of views, and 0 feedback! What up with that?!

I've been meaning to get in here and read through the dreams and leave comments. I just haven't had the time to do it yet.

Why must it be neccesary to have all these rules?

Because if not, the gallery would be a mess of people posting every other dream they have, and so many of the dreams in the gallery would get no exposure, because they'd be buried under all the other posts. They are also in place to encourage people to keep up with their Dream Journals, since you have to have one here to post in the gallery. There are a lot of members here, and the purpose of having the gallery is so the chosen dreams can be enjoyed, not just buried under everyone else's, and unread.

And sorry about the delay (to anyone who has been waiting for their dreams to be approved).

Lol. It's cool. It's not that hard, though. I might have just gotten a little wordy in the explanation. Basically:

1) You have to have a journal her at DV to submit a dream.
2) You must start a Submissions thread of your own, in the Submissions section, before posting to the gallery.
3) All dreams being submitted to the gallery must be posted in the Submissions thread first, along with a link to where it is in your journal.
4) After the end of every month, submitted dreams can then be posted into the Gallery area.

That's about it.

Just a suggestion, but if the main aim here is to get a variety of people's submissions to be seen, it'd be beneficial to put something saying not to necro older threads (doesn't necessarily need to be a rule, more like a strong suggestion). Even if these old threads are popular, continued posting still bumps the newer submissions down far enough to stay unseen by most.

...Keep in mind this isn't a personal complaint of mine, as I've only ever submitted once. Just trying to be helpful.

Just to notify everyone: The opening post to this thread has been changed to reflect a more concise declaration of the rules. The update is posted below. Please be sure to follow the rules of the Gallery when posting!
