The colon is surprisingly clean, as far as I know.

I know that gay guys get bladder infections all the time from having anal sex. Not that big of a risk in the big picture, but definitely uncomfortable.

Obviously, if neither partner has an STD, it is impossible to transmit one.

Most straight couples who have anal sex regularly use a condom for that portion of the act. You don't want bacteria getting in...other places.

I'd still use a condom....

Ya even if you both have a clean bill of health use a condom... if you don't wrap your tool before you poke some stool you're just dirty.

^...You DO know that human fecal matter is among the most bacteria-laden type of feces out there, right? There's a reason we don't use our own waste as fertilizer for crop production. The fact that your own personal sexcapades haven't led you to infection, I describe in just one word: Fluke.

...And douche is not a fool-proof way to remove all fecal matter from the rectal area. Not by a long shot.

Really, now...I thought I was the only one. Straight as I am, I wouldn't even stick it in a woman's bum, even with a condom. For me, the anus has always been a point of exit, not entry.

It's better to find about before you do such thing..

It isn't going to kill you. It just puts you at risk of getting a UTI. You can avoid that risk completely if you use a condom.

To put it in perspective, many women get UTIs from vaginal sex. You don't see them refusing to have sex. You just deal with it if it happens.

Look guys, I need some STATISTICS. I appreciate all your responses but has it been empirically shown that infections that are NOT STDs can be spread by anal sex. I mean sure, plenty of you say it's obvious, but I can't just send an e-mail to a health organisation and say that. Unfortunately, all of the sites about 'barebacking' deal with HIV only and I can't find anything that relates to NON STDs.

I am looking myself obviously, but if someone could direct me to a site that actually pays attention to NON STD infections during anal sex then I would be most pleased, because I haven't found one. And if it's 'so obvious' as you all keep saying, I would expect to.

Like I said, I need some DATA. I'm going to raise hell if I find out that these Babylonian 'health' sites are DECIEVING the weak minded.

And just in case anyone makes some egotically deluded assumptions, I am NOT saying that anal sex is 100% safe. I am challenging the claim, that's all.

If you consider infection to be a risk, then no type of sex is safe.

I've never had one, so I don't know how bad they are. I've heard they suck pretty bad. If you're that paranoid, you should just vacuum pack your dick in rubbing alcohol and never touch it again

Just keep clean and eat right. Your immune system takes care of this kind of stuff if you keep yourself healthy.

Right, I'll focus on one thing then. I take it that UTIs are the most common, if not the only infection other than STIs you can get from anal sex.

So my question to anybody, and please answer with a quoted source:

Is it possible to catch a UTI from anal sex that CANNOT BE TESTED FOR?

If so, then the health organisations are LYING and something needs to be done about it. I aint sitting back for shit.

This is how a UTI works:

Bacteria crawls through the tubes -> multiplies in urine -> infection.

Is there bacteria in the collon? Yes.

There's your answer.
