3 Hours of sleep not enough to reach REM. So what if you can't sleep after wake up

This doesn't happen always but sometimes i go to sleep at 12a t night..then i wake up at 3 and can't go back to sleep(Close my eyes but i can't seem to go into sleep). So i just slept 3 hours yesterday.

Sometimes i'd wake up like after 3 hours and i dont think that's enough to have dreams, is it? Not that i want to sleep 3 hours. i want to sleep alot, just sometimes i cant

Dreams normally occur after the first 90 minutes of sleep, so it's possible, but it also depends on your REM pattern. If you're sleeping sporadically theres more of a chance that anything you try to calculate gets thrown out of the window.
