      Wake up crying?

Has anyone else experienced this before? It has happened to me quite a few times; I cry in my dream, usually over something stupid, and when im wake up it turns out i had been crying in real too =(

I once had a dream that my father died in a fire. He was in a room that was being engulfed in flames and said, "just let me go". I woke up with tears in my eyes. Another time I woke up ready to cry.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Crying in dreams is not at all unusual, and if you can I think you should try and go with the dream.

Do you think you were crying for a particular reason, or do you think it for an emotional release?
Did the tears make you feel better or worse? Dreams can seem really silly sometimes once we wake up from them.

Try to see if you can determine why you are actually physically crying.
If not, don\\\'t sweat it - we all need a cry sometimes

I've done it before. I woke up all sad and tears all over but I couldn't remember why!

Certainly, I've woken up with tears quite a few times in my life.. and that's not including the times that I have dreams that cause me to cry because of the strong emotion linked to them. Maybe your dreams seem stupid, but it doesn't matter what you think it is, it moved you somehow, and that's fine. You may have a lot of emotion that you didn't release in real life prior to having the dream. If not, you may be under a lot of stress in real life and so this happens to relief the dress, even if, as you say, over a "stupid thing" in the dream.

      You're not alone, Wing
      Hope this helps.

I have never woke up crying, but I have had many times where I have woke up laughing my head off and could not stop for a minute or two. One time I remember I woke up laughing because before the dream faded something funny was said. Another time I just woke up and remembered the end of the dream and started laughing my head off. I have woken up hubby a few times because of this, now it is just a normal thing for me.

I've woken up crying, a few times. Usually, it's because I had a very sad/moving dream. But, there was one case where I actually woke up crying fake tears.

In the dream, I was on the run from the police, for some unknown reason. To avoid being cornered in a restaurant, I had to disguise myself as a woman, and try to slip passed them. On the way out, one of them had stopped me, and was trying to ask me questions or something. So, trying to just get out of the situation, I started sobbing fake tears about something or other, hoping the cop would just tell me to move along. The crying was 100% fake, but I happened to wake up right then, and caught myself sobbing in real life. Lol.

Well, once when I had a dream that I was a prisoner of dreams and couldn't never wake up. Probably many other dreams as well.

I've also found my pillow wet from tears a couple of times when I've woken up.

Yes actually. I was having a really bad nightmare. I was so scared in my dream, that I woke up crying.

I dreamed my grandfather was dead and my grandmother was inside their house trying to get a meal together for everyone and she obviously needed help but a couple women in nice, predominantly white clothing told me I wasn't allowed inside and that it wasn't time yet, and I cried with them for a while because she was never like that when my grandfather was around. Then I woke up and remembered that my grandma is the one who died last spring.

The interesting thing was that there was a gap between the in-dream crying and the awake crying. I didn't wake up with tears in my eyes, but I was already more than distraught enough to start as soon as I woke up.

Well I think, if you can wake up with extreme fear which causes your heart to race, why not wake up with extreme sadness that cause your eyes to tear? This hasn't happened to me for years, but is sort of frustrating waking up crying and all depressed thinking, "What the heck am I depressed over?" It is actually quite amazing that dreams can have such a strong effect on us both emotionally and physically.

I've definitely woken up crying after dreaming awful things, like the death of a family member.

It hasn't happened to me, that I know of.
I think it is possible to cry in your dreams, and it's normal to show emotion if a dream is really bothering you. I'm sure that whatever you would cry about in waking life, if it happens in your dreams it would be more sad, depending on the situation.

      It's happened to me once.

There was a wheelchair-bound boy I knew in kindergarten who died when I was in either first or second grade. A couple years ago, I dreamed that I was walking past a house where he was running around and playing basketball with a bunch of other kids. I started to walk up the driveway, but before I even had a chance to say hello, I woke up... and realized I was crying.

Crying in your dreams is not an unusual dream phenomenon.
Honestly, it is ok to cry even if you are a guy or a girl.

But in your dreams, that is usually a sign that in the reality world, you have something that is either bothering you or what may seem as 'not as important' may be heavily emphasized in your dream world. Such as the going around saying you are not afraid of death, but in your dreams you die on a consistent basis and wake up the moment you die in your dreams.

I think that when someone cries, there is a sign that logic has been breached... Perhaps, when you seek the comfort of another or have the loss of comfort, one may cry... In sleep, crying is only exonerated by the emotion releasing itself... In other words, in the physical world, your body may have the need to cry to relieve the pain of the sub-conscious world.

I hope that you are doing better!
