      Question Invincible?

I've been having a couple of dreams now and then where no matter what happens to me in the dream, I don't die and wake up. Here are a few examples from my Dream Journal.

Won't Die o.O (Bad dream) - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

Apocalyptic Terror D: (Respawning?!) - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

Died But Respawned And Stayed In The Dream! - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

Generally it is that if you die in a dream, you wake up. This is not the case for me. Although I'm sure that this happens for other people too. But in the first example above, the person who was trying to kill me in the dream looked a bit confused as to why their attempts were futile. In the third example above, I did die, but I stayed in the dream somehow. I used to die a lot in dreams before, when I was younger, but not anymore. This is a good thing, but I'm just wondering... Why can't I die in my dreams? o.O
      Oof.

Respawns are generally caused by too many video games. It's pretty much the only model of death we can experience repeatedly to base our dreams on.

I almost died in one dream and my brother respawned, am I doing it right?
I have become quite interested on the layers of lucidity, and I use them to measure how lucid a dream is. For more information on these layers, click here.

Once you realize you are invincible within your dreams, you can bring this talent into your lucids as well. For example, once time in a lucid I stood up up in a firefight with semi-auto guns blazing from both sides. I tanked all the enemy damage so my side could gain the edge in the fight. I took all the enemy's bullets in my body without dying.

I think it has to do partly with video games, but not totally. Dying in dreams justs resembles an expectation of death. If you are in doubt about death, or when dying you question yourself "am I dead or what?" it keeps you alive. If you are totally sure in a dream that you will die with no doubts, then you will probably wake up. I have it too, especially in lucids, I can't die, though it's also a good way to become lucid
